☀️ Heat Stroke Can Happen Fast! ☀️

As temperatures rise, our pets are at risk for heat stroke, a life-threatening emergency that requires immediate veterinary care.

🚨 Signs of heat stroke include:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Weakness or collapse
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Bright red gums
• Disorientation

🐾 Never leave pets in parked cars, provide plenty of fresh water, and avoid outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.

If you suspect your pet is suffering from heat stroke, contact your veterinarian immediately. Quick action can save a life!

Stay cool and stay safe this summer! ❤️

🐾☀️ Summer Pet Travel Safety ☀️🐾

Whether you're planning a road trip, heading to the beach, or flying to your next destination, don't forget to pack the essentials for your furry travel companion! 🐶🐱

Our Pet Travel Checklist is a great reminder of what to bring:
✔️ Collar, leash, and updated ID tags
✔️ Food, water, treats, and bowls
✔️ Medications and medical records
✔️ Pet first aid kit
✔️ Carrier, crate, or safety harness
✔️ Favorite toys and blankets for comfort
✔️ Waste bags or litter supplies

🚗 Road Trip Reminders:
• Secure pets in the back seat with a crate or seatbelt harness.
• Take frequent breaks for water and potty stops.
• Never allow pets to ride with their heads out the window.

✈️ Flying with Pets:
• Schedule a veterinary checkup before travel.
• Make sure vaccinations and any required health certificates are up to date.
• Use an airline-approved carrier that allows your pet to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably.

🌡️ Most importantly: Never leave your pet unattended in a parked vehicle. Even on mild days, temperatures inside a car can become dangerous within minutes.

🏷️ Before you leave, double-check that your pet's microchip information and ID tags are current. A little preparation goes a long way toward keeping your adventure safe, stress-free, and fun for everyone!

🐾 Medical Monday: Salt Water Toxicity in Dogs 🌊

Beach days are fun, but did you know that drinking too much salt water can become a life-threatening emergency for dogs?

When dogs ingest excessive amounts of ocean water, the high salt content can cause dangerous electrolyte imbalances, leading to dehydration and elevated sodium levels in the bloodstream. Early signs may include excessive thirst, vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, and lethargy. In severe cases, dogs can develop confusion, tremors, seizures, collapse, or even coma.

🐶 Help keep your pup safe at the beach:
✔️ Bring plenty of fresh water and offer frequent drink breaks
✔️ Take regular breaks from swimming and retrieving toys
✔️ Discourage drinking from the ocean or biting at waves
✔️ Watch closely for any signs of illness after beach outings

If your dog develops vomiting, diarrhea, unusual behavior, weakness, tremors, or seizures after a day at the beach, contact your veterinarian immediately. Prompt treatment can make all the difference.

🌊 A little prevention goes a long way toward keeping beach adventures safe and fun!

Medical Monday! 🩺
🏖️🐶 Beach days are fun… until your dog starts eating sand!

Did you know swallowing too much sand can cause a dangerous intestinal blockage called sand impaction? Symptoms can show up within hours or even days after your beach trip. Signs to watch for include:
• Vomiting
• Restlessness or panting
• Constipation
• Belly pain or bloating
• Loss of appetite

The good news? You can help prevent it by rinsing sandy toys often, discouraging digging, and bringing plenty of fresh water to the beach. 🌊💙

If your pup seems uncomfortable after a beach day, don’t wait to contact your veterinarian.
