🐱CAT VACCINES: CORE vs. NON-CORE 💉
“But my cat stays indoors!” 🏠🐱
We hear this one a lot, and it’s a great point!
Even indoor cats can have exposure to infectious diseases, which is why discussing a vaccination plan with your veterinarian is important.
🛡️ CORE VACCINES
These are recommended for all cats because they protect against serious, widespread or life-threatening-diseases:
• 🦠 Feline viral rhinotracheitis
• 🦠 Calicivirus
• 🦠 Feline panleukopenia
• 🦠 Rabies
🌟 NON-CORE VACCINES
These may be recommended depending on your cat’s individual lifestyle and risk of exposure.
• 🦠 Feline Leukemia (FeLV)
For example, a cat who:
🐾 Goes outdoors
🐾 Lives with other cats
🐾 Travels
🐾 Boards or visits facilities with other animals
🐾 Has other specific exposure risks
may have different vaccination recommendations than a strictly indoor-only cat.
❤️ Every cat is different and their vaccine plan should be too!
This National Immunization Awareness Month, let’s make sure our feline friends have the protection they need.
📅 Not sure whether your cat is current? Bring their vaccine records to their next wellness visit and we’ll help you figure it out!
