I get asked quite often what’s the difference between Activo-Med and Bemer.

BEMER and Activo-Med are both PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) therapies, but they work a little differently and are designed with different goals in mind.

BEMER

* Focuses heavily on improving microcirculation (blood flow in tiny vessels).
* Uses a very specific low-intensity signal pattern designed to stimulate circulation and recovery.
* Often marketed for overall wellness, healing support, and recovery.
* Simpler setup and commonly used for maintenance and daily support.
* Lower intensity compared to many performance-focused PEMF systems.

Activo-Med

* Combines PEMF with massage and adjustable therapy programs depending on the model.
* Designed more toward performance horses and targeted therapy.
* Offers different frequencies and settings for warm-up, recovery, relaxation, and rehabilitation.
* Commonly used in competition barns for muscle soreness, stiffness, tying up recovery, and post-workout care.
* Typically provides a more customizable treatment experience.

A simple way to explain it:

* BEMER = circulation-focused wellness therapy. Has only two frequencies; 10 Hz and 33 Hz.
* Activo-Med = customizable performance and recovery therapy. Works at a frequency of 7.8mt (millitesla) with an intensity of between 1-50hz.

Both can be beneficial — it really depends on what the horse needs and what the owner is looking for.

I added a new modality to my toolbox and Remi got to try it out first!
The Activo-Med systems are programmed to work at a frequency of 7.8mt (millitesla) with an intensity of between 1-50hz. The pre set sequences are based on therapeutic levels covering the horse from poll to tail and thigh and shoulder areas too. There are a total of 14 PEMF coils and 14 massage units placed over these areas.
It’s excellent for pre/post workouts and rehabilitation needs!
