Dear Friends and Clients,

Today marks the four-year anniversary of Meridian Equestrian Center (MEC). Our loyal community is the backbone of our success, and we are incredibly proud of how far we have come together. While the past four years brought unexpected trials, today is an opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments and the people who made them possible.

We offer a special thank you to Dr. Mike Anderson, Suzy Huizenga from Twin Maples Farm, and the many others who have supported us since the beginning.

We founded MEC to create a unique haven for both horses and people. Our mission remains centered on being an educational hub that promotes equine welfare and develops the next generation of riders. With four generations of our family actively working at the farm, we have intentionally built a culture rooted in kindness. Having lived and taught at various facilities across California, Kentucky, New York, Pennsylvania, and Delaware over the last 25 years, we have worked to bring the very best practices to this peaceful PNW environment, back to our hometown of Lynden, WA.

Our journey began five years ago with the creation of North Cascades Equus (NCE) in Ferndale as a small teaching business. A year later, we purchased this property. NCE started with just one lesson horse, KC, soon followed by Mya and Diamond. Today, we are proud to be the home of 29 horses, four barn cats, and a small flock of chickens and ducks—each unique and special to our farm.

As many of you know, this property has long been a local icon in Lynden, previously mostly known as Free Wind Farm. When we moved in, the house was in need of a new roof and a remodel and the grounds required significant refurbishment. It has been a massive undertaking, but over the last four years, we have transformed the center into the vibrant facility you see today and the home of the Kulshan Ridge Pony Club Riding Center.

Thank you for being part of our story and for helping us make MEC a place of peace and joy for every person and animal who steps foot onto the property.

In friendship,

Lisa and Jamison Anderson

3 Updates:
1 opportunity remaining- a great deal for an owner with multiple horses to lease a space.

#1 Our track system boarding is now waitlisted.

#2 Our trainer block is now occupied through the end of Aug but will be available in September. This spot will include 6 stalls with runs and a storage stall. $350/each horse. This is the perfect space for a horse training and sales business. Amenities: large outdoor arena, sensory/obstacle trail course cross country training course, access to pro-grade stadium jumps, covered arena, round pen and extra outdoor arena space.

#3 We still have a nice dry paddock/self care space with 2 run in sheds. This is perfect for an idependent, dedicated single owner of 1-4 horses. Includes a storage stall. $800. Add hay service for $300 per horse or supply your own. We would consider splitting this space in half for 2 separate owners.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

North Cascades Equus is offering 2 unique boarding opportunities at our beautiful facility in Lynden, WA starting in June.

1) Budget friendly Self-Care Dry lot paddock space for a responsible, attentive owner with sheds for a single owner to lease for 2-4 horses.

Price includes additional optional strip pasture turnout and 1 stall for storage. $800/month.
Or, the space can be divided for 2 owners each with 1-2 horses for $400. Part time track turn out, additional amenities and alfalfa hay feeding available at an extra cost. No cleaning services are offered.

2) Track System Full Boarding:

If you are looking for the very best for your horse, this is it. Our 15 acre track system was thoughtfully designed for our personal herd and has room for 2 more horses. This is the best species-appropriate care available. Includes full use of facilities including our trail/sensory course, indoor and outdoor arenas, round pen and seasonal jumping/riding field. We feed high quality tested alfalfa in multiple slow-feeders and manage strip grazing and muzzles. Hands-on twice daily checks. This is perfect for a semi-retired or retired horse. Horses with special needs (PPID or MS) currently reside in this herd. $1200/month

Questions & Answers

Why would I choose track-system boarding?

Our facility prioritizes species-appropriate care to ensure the highest quality of life for the horses in our charge. This system is designed specifically for owners who value the long-term well-being and happiness of their horses above all else.

Please be advised of the following considerations:

- Accessibility: To maintain a natural environment, horses are not confined to small areas for easy access. Owners are responsible for retrieving their horses from the track.

What benefits do horses get from living on a track system?

This approach offers significant advantages for equine health, behavior, and land utility:

- Increased Movement: By strategically placing food, water, and shelter at various points, horses are encouraged to walk continuously, mimicking their natural foraging behavior.

- Physical Health: Increased activity helps horses burn fat, build muscle, and improve endurance. It also promotes better digestive health, reducing the risk of colic.

- Hoof Quality: Regular exercise on varied terrain stimulates hoof growth, resulting in thicker and more resilient hooves.

- Weight Management: The track system allows for the elimination of lush grazing, which is essential for preventing obesity and laminitis while still providing ample space for movement.

- Natural Enrichment: Horses can live outdoors 24/7 in an environment that simulates natural terrain, including woods, sand pits, and water features.

- Mental Well-being: A stimulating environment allows for natural herd socialization, which significantly reduces the likelihood of developing stable vices such as cribbing or weaving.

- Reduced Herd Conflict: Multiple feeding stations allow the herd to spread out, minimizing competition and aggression often found around single feeding points.

- Increased Confidence: Navigating diverse terrain and obstacles on the track helps horses become more confident and adaptable, which translates well to trail riding.
