We want to take this opportunity to introduce 'Casper'. This handsome fellow belonged to Dr. Morton's parents, who both passed away in 2012. Casper has been part of the family to Britt and Tracy, Dr. Morton's brother and sister in law, in North Carolina since then. This medium sized mixed breed old man is now ****21**** years old!!! We are not aware of very many non-small breed dogs that have lived this long! He has received the best of care and has travelled all over the country during his long life! We had the opportunity to spend the day with him (this is the Morton's son Bart in the photo) and it appears to us that Casper still has a lot of life left in him! God Bless senior dogs!
We'd love to see pictures of your senior canine in the comments!

🐾❤️ BIG THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT MOORE COUNTY FRIENDS OF ANIMALS! ❤️🐾

We have SO much going on right now, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you!

Thanks to some incredibly generous donors, we are finally working on a project we have dreamed about for a LONG time. 🥹❤️ We are putting brand-new outdoor runs on each of our dog kennels!

Soon, every one of our dogs will be able to step right outside their kennel, stretch their legs, lay in the grass, enjoy the sunshine, and have their very own little yard throughout the day. 🐶🌱☀️

We are so grateful to everyone who has helped make this project possible. Your generosity is making life better for the dogs in our care while they wait for their forever families.

🐾 AND DON’T FORGET — TOMORROW IS ADOPTION DAY! 🐾

📅 Saturday, August 29th
⏰ 9 AM – 3 PM
📍 Moore County Friends of Animals

Christie will be here from 9–3, and we would LOVE for you to come see us!

Come meet our amazing fur babies, check out the work happening around the rescue, and maybe leave with your new FOREVER BEST FRIEND! ❤️🐾

We currently have a waiting list of animals that desperately need to come into our facility. Unfortunately, we cannot bring them in until we make room by getting some of our current residents into loving homes.

So tomorrow, LET’S CLEAN OUT THIS RESCUE! 🙌🐶🐱

Please go to our website ahead of time, check out the animals currently in our care, and fill out an adoption application before you come. Having your application completed will help us get everything ready so, if you find your perfect match, they may be able to GO HOME WITH YOU THE SAME DAY! 🏡❤️

Come spend part of your Saturday with us. See what your support is helping us accomplish, love on some animals, and help us make room so we can say YES to the next animal waiting for our help.

🐾 ADOPT. SAVE A LIFE. MAKE ROOM FOR ANOTHER. 🐾

Please share and help us make tomorrow an AMAZING adoption day for the animals of Moore County! ❤️

The Mortons are exploring Iceland with family this week! Today we are in Isafjordur walking around the fishing town. We stopped in and said Hi to Dr. Helga, the local vet for the region. She was delightful and gave us a quick tour of her clinic! Rabies does not exist in Iceland so there is no need to vaccinate for it here. They do vaccinate for parvo and some of the other canine viruses. We have not seen very many pets here so far, and there are NO strays. The Iceland people are kind, and very environmentally conscious. The land is rugged and surreal. We will post more photos later. In the mean time, Dr Sain and our amazing team are managing everything wonderfully! Góðan dag!!

The grand old building we're in was built in 1876 by one of Lynchburg's first merchants. She has been a home, a boarding house, a human hospital (The McCord Hospital), a funeral home and a vet hospital! She's still as stately today as she was over 100 years ago in this cool photo!

John Franklin Parkes of the Moore County Historical Society recently put AI to good use by enhancing this historic photo of Lynchburg so that the buildings and scenery appear more clear. Notice the Moore County Courthouse in the center and what’s now the Lynchburg Veterinary Hospital in the upper left corner. Parkes estimates that this photo was taken from Tanyard Hill in the early 1900s. To view more historic photos visit the Society’s page. | Photo Courtesy of the Moore County TN Historical Society
