Remember to always set your dogs up for success. One way we do that for Roxy and PJ is by getting a sit-stay or down-stay before leaving the house.

As you can see in the pic, neither dog minds doing this. In fact, the structure it brings to their walks helps to ease anxiety and build confidence.

At Happy Pack Dog Training we are big believers in getting dogs into nature and allowing them to simply "be dogs". That means running, sniffing, exploring, etc. This can be done with a long line while you work on strengthening your dogs recall and building up to off leash adventures (in appropriate places)

If your dog is struggling with over-excitement, socialization, destructiveness in the house, leash pulling or something similar, these fun outdoor adventures can significantly help.

Call me at (512) 783-0952 to discuss building the skills necessary for your dog to have these awesome off-leash adventures.

I just wanted to share some of the pups we had the opportunity to work with this past week.

We like to use "Reward Events". This is different from simply giving your dog a treat. Instead it involves movement, excitement, praise and food. We combine all of these in different ways so that each reward event is slightly different, keeping your dog interested.
Additionally, it's important that you FIND WHAT YOUR DOG FINDS ENJOYABLE and use that in your reward events . For my dog Lucy, it's spinning and jumping. If you have questions post them in the comments.

Rigel had an awesome time in his first Adventure-Walk. He has come so far in the past year! Beth, his owner has really given him an incredible quality of life. Her older pup Cassie has also been super helpful in making Rigel feel comfortable.
