Thank you for joining us in celebrating our fantastic technicians and showing them a little extra love this week. Our practice would not run as smoothly -or at all- without them. Their jobs are not easy or as simple as "playing with puppies and kittens all day" but they all are cool and kind under pressure. Thank you Dani, Paul, Alex, Izzy, Dan, Madi, Max and Anna for all that you do at SMVC

We have a special bonus technician to introduce—Max!
Max has been part of the Southern Maine Vet Care team for 3 years, although you may notice he disappears for long stretches of time. That’s because Max is currently studying to become a veterinarian in England!
When Max is back in the office, you can usually count on him to be cracking jokes, making everyone laugh, and bringing plenty of fun and personality to the office.
We miss Max when he’s away, but we’re excited to watch him pursue his dream of becoming a veterinarian. We already know he’ll make an incredibly caring and compassionate doctor, and we can’t wait to see where his journey takes him!

Meet Anna! Anna has been part of the Southern Maine Vet Care team for 2 years!
Anna became a technician because she knew she wanted to spend her days surrounded by animals. Since joining our team, she’s been working hard to learn all the ins and outs of veterinary medicine!
Her favorite parts of the job are cuddling and comforting pets before their procedures and mastering those blood draws
One of the hardest parts for Anna is seeing scared cats and dogs come in and not being able to explain to them that she’s only there to help them feel better and stay healthy.
When Anna needs to decompress after a tough day, she turns to yoga—and she’s even a certified yoga instructor! So if you see her lying on the floor, she’s doing yoga! When she’s not practicing yoga, you’ll likely find Anna hiking with her dog, Helga!

Madi has been part of the Southern Maine Vet Care team for almost 2 years! Her love of animals and her desire to help and support pet parents are what drew her to veterinary medicine.
Madi especially loves the human side of veterinary medicine. Her favorite part of the job is building relationships with clients and being able to recognize not only their pets, but them too! She loves getting to know the families who walk through our doors.
One of the hardest parts of the job is seeing loving pet parents face financial limitations and having to make difficult decisions about their pets’ care.
When Madi needs to de-stress at work, there’s one place you’ll likely find her—cuddling the office dogs, especially Auggie!
When she’s not at SMVC, Madi is usually spending time with her adorable 2-year-old son. And when she manages to find a little time for herself, you can find her at the gym!

Izzy has been part of the Southern Maine Vet Care team for 3 years! She actually started with us as an intern, cleaning kennels and helping with basic hospital maintenance before working her way up to becoming a veterinary technician.
Izzy has always known that she wants to become a veterinarian, and she’s using her time as a technician to gain valuable hands-on experience before heading off to vet school! She loves the technical side of veterinary medicine, especially blood draws, working in our lab, and assisting with surgery.
One of the hardest parts of the job for Izzy is seeing how financial limitations can affect the diagnostics and care available to pets. She says she always wishes she could do more for her patients and that veterinary care could be more affordable for everyone.
When Izzy isn’t at SMVC, you’ll often find her working her second job as a waitress in Kennebunk—because, as she puts it, vet school isn’t cheap! On her rare days off, Izzy loves relaxing at home playing video games or heading out on a hike with her friends and her dog, Baxter!

Check out today's lovely technician : Dan has been part of the Southern Maine Vet Care team for 2 years! After spending more than 12 years working in kitchens, Dan decided to make a career change and follow his longtime passion for working with animals.
Dan is currently enrolled at YCCC, working toward his degree in Animal Care and Management. He says making the switch to veterinary medicine was one of the best decisions he’s ever made—and he only wishes he’d done it sooner!
Dan’s favorite part of the job is client education. He loves helping pet parents better understand their pets’ health needs and giving them the knowledge and tools they need to care for their furry family members at home.
Dan is also our resident handyman! Whether it’s hanging corkboards, fixing drawers, or tackling whatever project needs attention, Dan is always ready to lend a hand and keep things running smoothly.
When Dan isn’t at SMVC, you’ll usually find him working on projects around his own house—or relaxing with his animals, Otis, Kirby, and Cashew. Although, if you ask his pets, they’d definitely vote for more relaxing and fewer house projects!

Next on our appreciation train is Dani! Dani has been part of the Southern Maine Vet Care team for an incredible 22 years!
Dani has always had a passion for animals. While becoming a veterinarian was once an option, she found her true calling in veterinary technician work—and hasn’t looked back!
You’ll often find Dani in our treatment area prepping for and monitoring surgeries. As our longest-employed technician, she has a wealth of knowledge and experience, and she loves passing that knowledge along to the newest members of our team.
When Dani has a day off, you’ll still find her surrounded by dogs! She loves training her own dogs as well as helping train others. Her favorite adventures involve traveling to new trials and competing in sporting events with her pup.

Next up for TechWeek is Alex! Alex has been part of the Southern Maine Vet Care team for 11 years! She entered veterinary medicine because of her love for animals and her passion for advocating for those who can’t speak for themselves.
As a veterinary technician, Alex loves being part of surgeries and caring for patients while they’re away from their families. Her favorite part? Reuniting pets with their people after a hospital stay!
Alex is one of our cross-trained technicians, so you’ll find her everywhere—from exam rooms to the front desk, she’s always ready to help!
Outside of work, Alex loves spending time outdoors with her pup, Mae. She enjoys gardening, hiking, and paddleboarding.
We’re so lucky to have Alex on our team! Thank you for 11 wonderful years, Alex!

To start TechWeek off I would like to Introduce you to Dr. Lynch's right hand man! Paul has been part of the Southern Maine Vet Care team for 13 years!
Paul’s love for animals started at a young age. He originally thought he would become a veterinarian, but after discovering veterinary technician work, he quickly fell in love with the field!
One of Paul’s favorite parts of being a technician is the technical side of the job, especially the challenge of things like blood draws. He also loves watching his patients grow from playful puppies and kittens into adults—and getting to see their unique personalities develop along the way!
After a long shift, Paul’s favorite way to recharge is to escape the hustle and bustle, sit quietly outside, or take a few peaceful minutes in his car.
When he’s not at SMVC, Paul enjoys sleeping in, relaxing, and playing video games with friends.
