Hey y’all! Last year we added a grass seed mixture to the existing alfalfa in our field with plans to put the animals out on pasture for the summer.

However, as you can see, the first crop has grown quite well… and much more quickly than we could get the pasture fencing completed. Soooo…. We are looking for someone locally who’d be willing to cut, and HOPEFULLY, bale these couple of acres for us.

We cannot put the animals out in this lush growth, so we’re hoping someone is able to cut (and bale) what we have, so it doesn’t go to waste. And…. Then we can finish the fencing and move the crew out to greener pastures in the coming weeks.

Anyone know of anyone??? We’d gladly compensate for their time as we know how busy everyone is this time of year!!! Feel free to share this post, send a PM and/or text/call me at 930-229-3770.

We received the most amazingly thoughtful gift today…. We still just can’t believe how perfect it is.

This beautiful handmade quilt was lovingly created in memory of our beloved family members that crossed The Rainbow Bridge in 2025. 🥺

For this group of talented individuals to put so much of their time, effort and love into this project for us is truly one of the most heartwarming acts we’ve been blessed to receive. We can’t wait to hang this in my office where we have all of the cremains of our many loved ones. Seeing their beautiful faces every day is such a precious reminder of what makes even the toughest days worth it.

This week has been one of our hardest ever… but each day gets a little more bearable because of all of YOU! We cannot begin to express our gratitude for the many, many messages, cards, flowers, gifts, meals, etc. Knowing y’all believe in us and the work we do keeps us waking up every day and striving to do better.

We have a lot of projects being completed around the sanctuary recently, and we cannot wait to share our progress with you! We hope you’ll stay tuned in this weekend to see what we’ve been up to at …

Soooo …. Kewaunee Piggly Wiggly kindly provided us with all of their fruit and veggie extras yesterday… and let’s just say that I’m now officially in the running for most popular Uber Eats driver in the county!!!

Yesterday we visited Syble Hopp School Kangaroos for their end of year celebration, and it was the most wonderful experience! It was our first time partnering with their school, so we greatly appreciated the opportunity to meet so many new friends and make countless new connections!

The students and staff were all so polite, inquisitive and appreciative. We spent two hours sharing information about the many animals in our care and what truly makes The Wish so unique and special.

It was such a busy day, I barely had time to snap any photos… but these few that I did manage to sneak in clearly speak for themselves. I know I say this all too often… but the joy that comes from seeing children (and adults, too) and animals interact is beyond compare. It’s the reason we do what we do… even on our hardest days.

We can’t thank Syble Hopp enough for having us… and even more so, for the car load of amazing donations!!! We are truly blown away by your generosity! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making it a great day for …

Today was actually… a really good day for a good day. We look forward to sharing the details with y’all later this week, but for now …

We just want to sincerely thank our friends, our supporters … our community. Thank you showing up when we need y’all the most. It is overwhelmingly clear how much love surrounds Addie and The Wish, and for that …. We really have no way to adequately express our gratitude.

This past weekend has made us question everything… down to the very foundation on which Wilson’s Wish was built. We are literally two people who dove head first into this rescue life with zero experience to lean on. But, we give our damn best 24/7 - 365 to care for our family, and that’s exactly why the loss of Addie hit us so deeply. We didn’t do enough to protect her… and nothing will ever change that.

But thanks to y’all, we’re slowing picking ourselves back up… and striving to do better.

Better for our 65+ family members that still need us.

Today we participated in the first annual “Unite the Pack Day” hosted by Algoma Middle/High School! Students volunteered three hours of their time this morning to assist 13 nonprofits in the Algoma community… and we were so honored to be invited to be one of them!

The students (and staff) worked soooo hard here today to accomplish a lot of tasks we’ve been wanting to check off the list!

🌲 Old pine trees were removed from the goat pen
🐐 Our newly constructed goat house was painted
🚪 New barn doors were painted
🪵 Mulch was relocated to the second driveway
🏠 New (to us) sheep house was painted

Oh… and the animals were all spoiled with lots of attention and treats!

Today is just what our hearts needed… we’ve really been struggling the last several days, but today reminded us that we are not alone. We have an entire community around us that supports us and believes in the work we do.

Again… so many thanks to everyone who has reached out in some way over this past weekend. It is impossible to put into words what your support and encouragement mean to us. It is TRULY what keeps us moving forward each day … 🩵

The view from our kitchen window at this time of evening has always been my favorite…

🌅 The sun setting perfectly after a long day.

🐑 The animals contently munching away at their dinner.

🌾 A peaceful countryside that we’re blessed to call home.

But, this view will never be the same… it’ll always be a reminder of a night that has forever changed us.

The only thing keeping us going is the many, many comments, texts, messages and voicemails we’ve received … please know we have read each and every one of them but just aren’t in a place to respond at the moment.

To those of you who’ve shared similar stories of loss, our hearts break for you and your beloved pets. We wouldn’t wish this unfathomable feeling of loss and heartbreak on anyone.

To those of you who felt the need to remind us that our irresponsibility caused this tragic incident, please know that we are already well aware. Your assumptions and opinions lead us to believe that you have not visited and/or are not familiar with The Wish. If you knew us at all… you’d know that we’re always striving to “do better”. With each loss, regardless of the circumstance, we lose a piece of ourselves … and we strive to “do better”.

To the person that didn’t stop for just a moment last night… we forgive you and want you to know that Addie didn’t suffer. But please… please… if you should ever find yourself in that situation again, please reconsider your decision to leave someone’s beloved family member in the middle of the road without a second thought.

We love you so very much Sweet Addie Cakes… though our time was small, our heartbreak is immeasurable. Run free over that Beautiful Rainbow Bridge. 🌈
