Meet Pepper. 🐾

When Pepper arrived at Tomlin Family Pet Hospital on July 1, she had been found alone on the side of the road by a Good Samaritan. At just 7 ounces, she was hypothermic, dehydrated, severely underweight, covered in fleas and suffering from a serious eye infection, skin mites, coccidia and intestinal parasites.

Our team immediately began treatment with warming, fluids, medications, parasite treatment and supportive care.

Just two weeks later, Pepper’s transformation has been incredible. She now weighs 1.86 pounds, her eyes have completely healed, she’s full of energy, eating well and even received her first FVRCP vaccine.

But the best part? The person who rescued Pepper couldn’t bear to let her go and gave her a forever home. ❤️

Stories like Pepper’s are a reminder that a single act of kindness, combined with prompt veterinary care, can completely change a life.

A closer look at your pet’s heart. ❤️

In this video, Brindy, one of our licensed veterinary nurses, performs an echocardiogram, a painless ultrasound that allows us to evaluate your pet’s heart in real time.

Your pet may benefit from an echocardiogram if they have:
• A heart murmur
• Coughing or difficulty breathing
• Fainting or weakness
• Suspected heart disease or an abnormal chest X-ray

One thing that sets us apart? During the exam, a board-certified veterinary radiologist reviews the echocardiogram live and provides a diagnosis in real time. That means faster answers and, in many cases, saves you the time and expense of traveling to a specialty hospital.

🎇🇺🇸 The 4th of July can be fun for us, but stressful and even dangerous for pets. Here are a few simple ways to help keep them safe:

1. Make sure ID tags and microchip information are up to date.
2. Secure doors, gates and fences before fireworks begin.
3. Walk dogs early in the day and keep them leashed outside.
4. Feed pets before dark and bring them indoors.
5. Create a quiet, comfortable space where they can retreat.
6. Keep greasy foods, corn cobs, chicken bones and any other unfamiliar food, beverage or substance out of reach.
7. Call your vet early if your pet needs anxiety medication or a refill.
