After a loooong time of not working with my silkies-satins. Finally decide to hatch 🐣 a bunch 🥰. Glad to be producing some dark skin mottleds and split to mottled. Also, finally my Mauve/Chocolate mottled pop-up in their genes. Is funny, because none of my roosters are showgirls, but I do have a couple showgirl hens. Either way, I feel I’ve hatch more showgirls than before, but child, how can I let them go when they hatch this cute. ☺️

Can we agree that no matter how good you clan your lines genetically, if you are working with colored silkies, no matter if APA approved colors, you still can get a single comb pop. lol let’s not even mention the mottled social fever. 😅

Who’s doing transport this days that leave or come to Florida? Since the sudden pass of our beloved Liz, it seems impossible to find an affordable and accessible transport person.

Extremely well said! You could have the best coop of the world, but if you are POS person, you’ll be just that nothing else. People need to sit down and shovel a chill pill this days with their social media cancel culture.

Sometimes I sit back and wonder… when did farming become so unrealistic?
Unrealistic housing standards. Unrealistic expectations. Unrealistic ethics where, if it’s not done one exact way, it’s suddenly “wrong.” Somewhere along the way, it feels like we forgot that farming has always been about making do with what you have and growing from there.
I still remember starting out by picking up free coops off Marketplace, hauling them home, fixing what I could, and learning as I went. It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t perfect. But it was honest, and it worked and it gave my animals care, safety, and consistency. As long as your animals have proper access to food, clean water, and are being cared for with intention, there is room for many ways of doing things. I truly support anyone on this journey those who just started, those who failed and tried again, and those who have worked hard to build established farms over time.
I like to remind people and myself that it’s okay to start with nothing. It’s okay to start small. It’s okay if your setup doesn’t look like a picture perfect farm page. What matters is that you care, you learn, and you keep showing up every day.
Farming isn’t about perfection. It’s about progress, resilience, and doing the best you can with what’s in front of you. And that has always been enough. ❤️

I’ve seen so many silkie farms complaining about a recent auction and how much it was gained and I it can only makes me sick about the level of ignorance and jealously some of this people can have against someone that has help others so much with their silkies program.
I learn to not mess with anyone’s beans 🫘 and is clearly no one’s problem how much money others do with their birds. Like why people can’t mind their business!?
