Fireworks are scary for pets and unfortunately the Fourth of July holiday is a common time when we see pets escape, become injured (hit by a car), have severe GI upset from eating people food or stress, and alcohol poisoning from drinking leftovers.
Help your pet by:
1) Keeping your pet inside.
2) Create a happy indoor room for them with a radio, comforter, and their favorite toy.
3) Kong Toys with kibble food and Kong paste (do not use peanut butter) is a great positive distraction. Have several loaded up that will last for the evening.
4) Make sure your pet is wearing a collar and ID tag with a phone number on it.
5) Make sure your pets microchip registration is up to date with your current contact information.
6) Check the yard for firework debris the next morning before letting your pets outside. Also, check your gates and fences to prevent escape.
7) If guests are over, be sure to clean up all alcoholic beverages before going to bed. Pets will drink the leftovers, which is highly toxic to them.

9) Pets are used to their normal diet, be sure your guests are not feeding table scraps (especially meats) which can cause vomiting and diarrhea.
