Bentley Farms Great Dane Rescue

Bentley Farms Great Dane Rescue This 501c3 rescue is dedicated to our beloved Bentley. He bloated on an empty stomach and had torsion; he passed on the way to the emergency vet.

He passed away at 18 months due to a mysterious intestinal issue, likely due food poisoning from dog food. Great Dane Rescue

💜 MEET ATHENA! 💜

Athena is a beautiful 15-month-old Great Dane looking for a new forever home. She is a big girl at approximately 120 pounds, and she has so much love to give! 🐾

Athena came to her family as an 8-week-old puppy and has had formal two-week live-in training. She is house trained, crate trained, knows her commands, and has been well socialized in public.

✨ About Athena:
🐾 15 months old
🐾 Female Great Dane — AKC
🐾 Approximately 120 lbs
🐾 Up to date on vaccines
🐾 House trained
🐾 Crate trained
🐾 Knows sit, come, wait & all done/release
🐾 Good with children and absolutely LOVES snuggling with them ❤️
🐾 Good with strangers — may bark initially but warms up very quickly
🐾 Loves playing, running outside, sleeping, eating and car rides! 🚗
🐾 No food aggression
🐾 Does not guard toys
🐾 No known health issues or allergies
🐾 No anxiety
🐾 Rides great in the car and does not get sick

Athena does have one very important requirement for her new home: NO SMALL ANIMALS. She has had two serious biting incidents with the family’s 5-lb Morkie. Because of this, she needs a home without small dogs or other small animals. Her family tried to keep the two dogs apart but the small dog slipped past the barrier and was hurt very badly. Athena seems to have prey drive with smaller animals. Her compatibility with other dogs will be carefully evaluated.

She has not been tested with cats, and her family strongly doubts she would be appropriate around chickens or farm animals. Small animals are a definite trigger and must be avoided.

Athena isn’t very leash trained because she has lived on a large farm, so her new family will need to continue working with her on that skill. She does have a fenced yard and enjoys having room to run.

Her perfect home would be a family with children and possibly other appropriately sized dogs, but absolutely no small animals.

Athena’s family is providing her veterinary records, toys and her collar.

📍 Located in Luray, VA

Athena is still young, incredibly loving, well trained in many areas, and loves being part of a family. We want to help her find the right home where everyone can be safe and successful. ❤️

💙 MEET MAVERICK! 💙
📍 New Milford, CT

Maverick is a handsome 4-year-old Great Dane mix weighing approximately 95 pounds, and he’s looking for a very special home where he can truly thrive. 🐾

Maverick was adopted at just 10 weeks old and has had a 6-week board-and-train program, so he knows quite a few commands and is accustomed to structure and training. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, crate trained, house trained, and leash trained.

This boy is an active guy who loves getting out and about! His favorite things include:
🦴 Bones and deer antlers
🚗 Car rides — he absolutely LOVES them!
🥾 Long walks and hikes
🏍️ Running alongside a quad, dirt bike, or other motorized vehicle
🎾 Playing with his toys

Maverick knows:
Sit • Down • Place • Climb • Heel • Come • Find It • Settle

He is also comfortable with public outings and has been well socialized.

🏡 What kind of home does Maverick need?

Maverick is looking for a home without young children. He does best with children 10 years and older, but his ideal home would likely be an adult-only household.

His family reports that he is generally better with women than men, and loud or abrupt movement from men entering through doors can be a trigger. He has no history of biting people.

Maverick is not a dog-social dog, and this is an important part of finding the right home for him. His personality changed as he matured, and he has had two incidents involving bites to other animals. Because of this, he needs to be the only dog in the home and should not be placed in a situation where he will regularly encounter loose or unfamiliar dogs.

He currently lives with a cat and may chase her, so a home without cats or other small animals would likely be the safest fit. He also likes to chase chickens, so any farm animals would need to be securely separated.

His family reports no food aggression or toy guarding.

Maverick dislikes water, having his nails trimmed, and being brushed — although, like many Danes, he certainly has opinions! 😂

❤️ His perfect home?

His ideal family would be an active couple without children or a single adult, preferably someone experienced with large breeds who understands dog behavior and is willing to continue the structure and training he already knows.

A securely fenced yard is a must, along with someone who enjoys walks, hikes, adventures, and keeping a big dog mentally and physically fulfilled.

Maverick is not looking for just any home — he needs the right home. But for the person who understands his needs, he has so much to offer. ❤️

He is a big, handsome boy with a lot of personality, and his family wants to make sure his next home is his forever home.

📍 Located in New Milford, Connecticut

💙 MEET TUX! 💙

This handsome boy is Tux, a 7-ish-year-old Great Dane currently in Louisville, Kentucky, but traveling to the rescue on Sunday and he is looking for his forever family! 🐾

Tux weighs around 98 pounds, is neutered, and is up to date on his vaccinations. He came into foster care as a stray, and his foster mom has quickly learned what a special boy he is. ❤️

Tux is the definition of a gentle, laid-back companion. His favorite activities include cuddling, lounging around, and being close to his people. He isn’t looking for a family who wants a high-energy adventure dog—he’d much rather be your couch buddy and follow you around the house. 🛋️🐾

He has been wonderful with the dogs he has met, including:
🐶 A male Yorkie
🐶 A female Old English Sheepdog
🐶 Male and female Mountain Curs
🐶 A male Chihuahua
🐶 A male Beagle
🐶 An 8-month-old female Yorkie

He has shown no aggression, no food aggression, and no issues with guarding toys. He has never bitten a person or another animal. He is friendly with strangers and enjoys car rides without getting carsick. 🚗❤️

Tux is house trained, walks on a leash, and knows “sit.” He can occasionally be a little nervous on leash, but his foster mom is working with him. He has also done well navigating a three-story home and stairs.

One thing Tux has made very clear is that he doesn’t enjoy being alone. He has only been with his foster mom for about a week, so we’re still learning about him, but he has already shown some anxiety when she leaves. Because of that, we think his perfect home would be with someone who works from home, is home frequently, or wants a companion who can go along with them whenever possible.

Tux isn’t demanding. He doesn’t need constant entertainment. He simply wants to be near his person, receive some love, and find a soft place to lay his head. 🥰

🐾 TUX AT A GLANCE:
📍 Louisville, KY
🎂 Approximately 7 years old
💙 Male Great Dane
⚖️ Approximately 98 lbs
✂️ Neutered
💉 Vaccinations current
🏠 House trained
🐕 Good with dogs he’s been around
🐱 Cats — not tested
👧 Kids — unknown
🐔 Farm animals — unknown
🦮 Leash trained
🚗 Loves car rides
🛋️ Professional couch potato
❤️ Loves cuddling and companionship
🚫 No known aggression or resource guarding

Tux was found as a stray, and now he’s ready for the part of his story we’ve all been waiting for—the forever home chapter. ❤️

If you’re looking for a big, sweet, mature Dane who would love nothing more than to be your companion and snuggle buddy, Tux may be your guy!

Who wants to give this handsome boy the forever home he deserves? 🐾💙

As always, all information is based on what is currently known about Tux, and some behaviors—including his compatibility with cats and children—have not yet been tested.

Here’s an application to apply for him - https://form.jotform.com/82256237662157
