I am a professional dog trainer and behavior consultant living in Page County. I offer private in-home dog training and behavior consultation sessions in the comfort of your home; and work with rescue groups to evaluate and train dogs to help them find their forever home. I teach you to train your dogs. For over 20 years, I've worked with animals in a variety of roles and I’ve been training animals professionally for over 10 years. I began my career training dolphins and sea lions to detect mines and swimmers for the navy marine mammal program. For over seven years, I trained dogs for basic obedience and trick behaviors. I’ve also trained dogs for film and television in Los Angeles, CA. Together we can train your dog the important behaviors to allow you to have a happy, fun, and harmonious life together. I hold a certificate in Applied Animal Behavior from University of Washington and am entering my final research year for my Master’s degree in Clinical Animal Behavior from University of Edinburgh. As a behavior consultant, I can help you help your dog with emotional issues that cause unwanted or problem behavior such as: jumping, pulling on leash, barking, separation anxiety, reactivity, aggression, and other issues. If you have specific issues or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

One of my dogs, Tally went on an outing with me. Being well trained gave her (and me) the opportunity to meet Daisy Duke herself Ms. Catherine Bach at Cooters in Luray. I was probably a little bit more excited than Tally was.

4th of July is coming up. Fireworks are likely to start this Friday, June 28th and may go for over a week until Sunday July 7th. If you know or think your dog has noise phobias, now is the time to act. Talk to your vet about meds that may help. If you are going to try a calming product, like the Thundershirt or a calming wrap, take time to build a positive association with the object. Don't just put it on them when the noise starts. You can make the item something that causes anxiety by only having them wear it when they hear scary noises.

Make sure your dog is secured on a leash and a well fitted harness when they go outside and hold the leash tight. Even in a fenced yard, walk them on leash. When scared, dogs can escape over and under fences that normally contain them. Take them for walks early in the evening in case they won't go outside once the boom booms start. Basements and interior rooms of houses may be quieter and help reduce your dog's anxiety. Make sure they are rooms the dog is comfortable in. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.

We had a blast at Shenandoah Valley Farm and Inn for The Celebration of Pets Festival. Thank you to Anicira for creating such a great experience for all. The volunteers from James Madison University and all the volunteers and staff from Anicira were amazing!! The artist from River City Caricatures was phenomenal and had a calming presence on the dogs. The whole day was a blast, Tally and I loved it. We can't wait till next year.
