Import Local

Import Local Composting service offering fermented and probiotic foods, farm fresh eggs, nutrient rich soil, and more in exchange for residential kitchen waste.

Weekly and bi-weekly pick-ups are available for a small fee depending on location Import Local is a food repurposing service operating in the Greater-Boston area. With us subscibers get access to clean foods through a local network of participating farmers and homesteaders by contributing their kitchen waste for a short fee. Using a bucket system contributors throw their leftover or spoiled food

and discarded paper products into a bucket. Import Local picks up those buckets biweekly and in return offers another bucket for them to refill. We offer this exchange as an incentive for people to make less of a carbon imprint by composting with us. Along with a clean food item that comes from partnered local business we bring our subscribers into a closed-loop network by processing the waste permaculturally using animals, worms, insects, and bacteria to convert it into an all natural biomass in the form of clean meats, healthy eggs, livestock feed, and nutrients. Permacultural techniques that bring wonderful soil to our customers requires zero chemicals. Our most important employees are thousands of Red Wiggler Worms and armies of Black Soldier Flies. Along with participating farms animals around New England, nothing goes to waste at Import Local. Our Youtube videos keep our customers in the know as far as their food is concerned; where it is going as well as where it is coming from. Import Local is about empowering people at the most fundamental level; being able to have control over what they chose to eat.

Special shout out to the Town of Lunenburg for having us for their Earth Day event. Participants there are on the ever-growing trend to localize life from the soil to the stomach. Thank you!

Our no-till garden produce fantastic collard greens this year. Using the black tarp and garlic mitigated pests better than pesticides. Any infected parts were portioned to the chickens.

Ziploc Bags May Be Leaking Microplastics Into Your Food, According to a New Class Action Lawsuit

A California woman has filed a lawsuit against Ziploc’s parent company, claiming the bags release microplastics under heat and cold. Despite being labeled “microwave safe” and freezer-ready, the suit argues that’s not entirely true. Now, concerns are growing over what may be leaching into ou...

This is what Import Local is up against. You either repatriate Main Street to promote your family owned businesses or have the multinationals rake you over the coals and strip you of our autonomy and violate your privacy. This is real. This is already happening. It's a trend we need to keep tabs on. Prices change according to your face and personal finances in an instant to maximize profits. Late stage capitalism manifest.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is looking to figure out how artificial intelligence (AI) impacts consumer prices. Specifically, the agency is looking int...

Update on compost garden 2025. We had a praying mantis spotting this week. We hope that they and the lady bugs will help keep this year's harvest in tact. We have a rabbit and groundhog issue that we are trying to meditate too, so our watermelons and cantaloupe are not compromised either. Last year we trapped three. This year, our trap broke, so we are going with garlic next to every brassica in the meantime. So far so good.

This is why we can’t give up composting.

This is why we can’t give up composting.

Recycling food waste by composting, anaerobic digestion and “refeed” can reduce GHG emissions dramatically compared to landfill disposal.
