🏡 PANAMA NEEDS A NEW ADDRESS… AGAIN. 🐾💔

Through absolutely NO fault of her own, our gorgeous girl Panama is looking for her actual forever home — or even just a temporary crash pad until forever comes along.

Her current owner is moving, and apparently Panama didn’t make the guest list for the new place. 😒 So here we are, trying to make sure this sweet girl has somewhere safe to land.

Panama is IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE for adoption or foster, and we would LOVE for her next stop to be the one where she finally gets to unpack her bags for good. ❤️

If this gorgeous girl looks like exactly what’s been missing from your family — or if you can offer her a temporary place to crash while we find her forever — PLEASE contact us ASAP!

Let’s make sure Panama’s next move is her LAST one. 🏡🐾❤️

📩 Message us if you’re interested in adopting or fostering Panama!

🚨 TEMPORARILY CLOSED TO INTAKE — UNTIL SEPTEMBER 15 🚨

Y’all… 10 animals in ONE DAY. 😳🐾

We are officially OVER CAPACITY, and with the holiday week affecting both staffing and veterinary services, we have reached the point where we simply cannot safely take in another animal right now.

Effective immediately, we are CLOSED TO ALL NEW INTAKES THROUGH SEPTEMBER 15, 2026.

This isn’t because we don’t want to help. It’s because we have to be able to properly feed, clean, vaccinate, vet, love, and find placement for every single animal already depending on us. ❤️

🐶 BUT HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP US MAKE ROOM! 🐱

We are currently running ADOPTION SPECIALS on KITTENS & ADULT DOGS, and we’re extending our hours to give more people the opportunity to stop by, meet our animals, and hopefully take home a new best friend!

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, NOW IS THE TIME. Every adoption opens a kennel or cage for the next animal who needs us.

🏡 Come meet them.
🐾 Fall in love.
❤️ Save a life.
🚪 And help us make room to save the next one.

Please stop by and meet your new best friend — we promise, they’re waiting for you! 🐾❤️

Please SHARE! Even if you can’t adopt, your share may reach the person who can.

❤️🐾🏡

❤️🐾🏡

🏡🐾 Today was really something special for me.

I absolutely love helping my real estate clients find the perfect place to call home, and I love helping our rescue animals find the families and homes they’ve been waiting for.

But today, I got to do both. ❤️

I had the privilege of helping a wonderful client, Coye, purchase his new home… and one of the absolute BEST dogs at our rescue, Evie, got to go home with him! 🥹🐾🏡

Talk about a closing day that hits a little differently. ❤️

Coye & Evie, I hope you enjoy your beautiful new home, make a million wonderful memories there, and have the very best life together. I couldn’t have picked a better ending—or beginning—for either of you!

Sometimes “Welcome Home” means a little more than just handing over the keys. 🗝️🐾❤️

They said YES to the address… and Evie said YES to her forever person! 🏡🐶

Bart Cauley, since we’re apparently going to discuss this publicly, let’s at least discuss it honestly and with ALL of the facts.

First, you are not “out $125.” You are out $100.80, because we refunded $24.20 to you yesterday morning. When someone else stepped up and paid $25 toward Cowboy’s surrender fee, we returned that money to you.

Second, the idea that this rescue is somehow profiting off your animal is laughable. We charge $125 because that is approximately what it costs us to vaccinate, deworm, heartworm test, spay/neuter, and provide a rabies vaccination and certificate for ONE dog. That $125 does NOT include food, flea and tick prevention, additional medications, kennel space, cleaning supplies, utilities, staff time, transportation, or the countless other expenses involved in keeping that dog alive, healthy, and cared for until it leaves our facility.

So if you genuinely believe we’re “making money” off these animals, please come down and volunteer. Clean kennels. Wash bowls. Do laundry. Feed dogs. Give medications. Help with intake. Load animals for vet appointments and transports. Spend a few days seeing exactly where the money goes, and then we can have an informed conversation about how “profitable” animal rescue is.

And here’s another fact that seems to keep getting overlooked: WE DO NOT RECEIVE COUNTY FUNDING.

Our contract is with the City of Lucedale ONLY. We receive $0 from George County to take county animals, and we are under absolutely no obligation to accept them.

Yet we do.

We take them when we have room—and sometimes when we really DON’T have room—because somebody has to help them.

So yes, if you live in the county, asking for a surrender fee or some financial assistance toward the animal YOU are asking us to take is about all we can do until George County decides to fund animal services. We cannot continue being expected to provide a county-wide service with zero county dollars and then be attacked for asking the person surrendering the animal to help cover a fraction of its care.

We even offered to show you our veterinary bills so you could see for yourself exactly what we pay.

If criticizing the rescue that took Cowboy into an already overcrowded shelter after asking for the bare minimum in help makes you feel better, have at it.

But don’t leave out the refund.
Don’t leave out the offer to show you the bills.
Don’t leave out the fact that we receive ZERO county funding.
And certainly don’t imply that we’re profiting from an animal that will cost us more to care for than you paid us to take.

You’re entitled to your opinion.

You are not entitled to your own version of the facts.

🐾 BIG DOGS. BIG HEARTS. BIG WEDNESDAYS. 🐾

We have some absolutely wonderful adult dogs sitting in our kennels who have one thing working against them…

They’re 40+ pounds. 💔

When families stop by looking to adopt, the puppies and smaller dogs tend to get all the attention. And unfortunately, these bigger adults don’t have an easy ticket out through transport either. The rescues and organizations we partner with are facing the exact same problem — everyone has wonderful medium and large adult dogs waiting for homes.

So we’re trying something NEW. 👏

🌟 Starting TOMORROW, every Wednesday we will be open from 10 AM–6 PM! 🌟

We’re extending our Wednesday hours specifically to give YOU more time to stop by after work, after school, or whenever your schedule allows and actually spend some time with these incredible adult dogs.

And here’s the fun part…

💰 Every Wednesday, our 40+ lb fully vetted adult dogs will have a SPECIAL discounted adoption fee.

How much of a discount? 🤫

You’ll have to come see us in person to find out! 😉

These dogs are already fully vetted and ready to quit watching families walk past their kennels and finally be the one walking OUT the door.

Come meet them. Sit with them. Take one for a walk.

You might walk in “just to look” and walk out with 40+ pounds of your new best friend. ❤️🐾

📍 WEDNESDAYS: 10 AM–6 PM

🏡 Forever home desperately wanted

The little guys have plenty of people rooting for them. Wednesdays are for the BIG DOGS. 🐕❤️

🐾 MEET MAXINE! 🐾

Those ears. Those little teefers. That face. 😍 Meet Maxine, an approximately 18-month-old Frenchie/Pocket Pittie mix who stopped by the shelter yesterday to start getting ready for her forever home!

Miss Maxine received her first vaccines, dewormer, and flea & tick preventatives, and tested HW negative! Today she’s headed to our friends at Southern Veterinary Clinic to be spayed and receive her rabies vaccine. ❤️‍🩹

Maxine is currently hanging out in a foster home, but she’ll be ready to officially join a family later this week!

💗 Female | ~18 months old
🐾 Frenchie/Pocket Pittie mix
💉 Getting fully vetted
🏡 Currently fostered
💰 Adoption fee: $125

If those satellite-dish ears have already convinced you that Maxine belongs on your couch—and we wouldn’t blame you—contact the shelter ASAP to apply to adopt her! 🥰

She’s getting the vetting done… you just provide the happily ever after. 🐾❤️

🐾 MEET BOOMER 🐾

This sweet little brindle boy is about 6 months old, and right now, he’s a little confused about where he belongs. 💔

A Good Samaritan brought him by today, and we were able to give him his first vaccines, dewormer, and flea & tick prevention. Unfortunately, we did not have a single open kennel to bring him into the shelter today.

Thankfully, his finder agreed to keep him safe for the next 7 days while we work on Plan A, B, C… or whatever it takes. ❤️ During that time, we’re hoping:

🏡 His original family recognizes him
🐾 We find him a new forever home
❤️ Or a kennel opens up so we can officially intake him

For now, we’re calling him Boomer. He has no microchip and no collar—just a sweet face, a big heart, and absolutely no idea how he ended up in this situation.

If you recognize Boomer and have been missing him, please contact the shelter ASAP. Proof of ownership will be required.

And if nobody comes looking and you think Boomer belongs on your couch, we’d LOVE to hear from you too. 🥹❤️

Please SHARE. His best-case scenario is finding the family he already has—or finding the family he was meant to have. 🐾🏡

🚨 TOUGH LOVE FRIDAY 🚨

We are slinging puppies onto transport vans as quickly as we possibly can… but it is nowhere near fast enough to keep up with the demand for kennel space.

There are FOUR of us trying to hold this thing together — and one of those four doesn’t even actually work here. We are all but killing ourselves trying to keep up with a problem that is, quite frankly, 100% preventable.

So today, y’all get tough love. ❤️

1. SPAY. AND. NEUTER. YOUR. PETS.
No excuses. No old wives’ tales. No “she needs one litter first.” No “I want my kids to experience puppies.” No “he’s a boy, so it’s not my problem.”

As Nike says: JUST DO IT.

2. PLEASE STOP “RESCUING” AN ANIMAL IF YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PLAN FOR WHAT HAPPENS NEXT.
If you cannot offer that animal a safe space, food, water and potentially some basic veterinary care for at least 7 days while we or another organization works to find room — DON’T PICK IT UP.

Don’t pick it up and then demand we take it. Don’t put it in your car and suddenly make it an emergency at our front door.

Keep driving. Keep walking. Keep pedaling your bike. Whatever you were doing — keep doing it.

That sounds harsh. We know. But we have NEVER asked members of the public to rescue animals and bring them to us. Outside of our employees and situations involving law enforcement or the fire department, we aren’t sending people out to collect animals.

We love y’all. We appreciate the people who care enough to want to help. But today, caring also means understanding that 17 kennels cannot hold an unlimited number of animals, and four exhausted humans cannot do the work of an entire county.

Today, 16 animals left our care. SIXTEEN. And somehow, instead of feeling like we can finally breathe, we’re already looking at the next wave coming through the door.

So the sign pretty much sums it up. 😂

We are CLOSED to the public until Monday.

We’re going to sanitize. Organize. Reset. Mentally prepare. SLEEP. Maybe even go home and hug our own animals for a minute before the chaos reconvenes Monday morning.
