Tigger is one of three remaining cats in my care currently that need a home asap! ❤️ Please consider giving him a home. He really is a good boy.

‼️ Senior kitty urgently needs forever home!‼️

Tigger is a 15 year old tabby that was pulled from Jackson County Animal Shelter almost a year ago this month. He is a large, affectionate boy looking to spend the rest of his life in your lap! 😽 He does have a condition called hyperthyroidism, which is managed with medication, but otherwise, he's healthy and strong.

But due to being bullied by the other cats in his original foster home, Tigger has been moved into a portable building outside with a window unit to keep him cool. While it's alright temporarily, he REALLY needs a home where he can get more attention and love for the remainder of his years. ❤️

Tigger loves to be cuddled and sleep in your lap. He gets along well with other calm cats, and he is currently housed with a kitty friend, Shadow, in the portable building. He also doesn't seem bothered by dogs that will give him his space.

He takes medication daily for his hyperthyroidism (which is inexpensive) and prefers wet food. Otherwise, he is super low maintenance. He uses the litter box just fine, and is not at all destructive. Tigger is already neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. His recent bloodwork confirms that he is healthy aside from the hyperthyroidism.

Please consider opening your heart to Tigger so he can live his twilight years in a proper home with love and comfort! 🏡❤️

Please message us if you have any questions about Tigger, and please apply to foster at www.bit.ly/mu-foster, or at www.bit.ly/adopt if you'd like him to become a permanent part of your family.

🎉 Congrats Bee! 🎉

We can't thank Coastal Cat Sanctuary enough for accepting our sweet, precious Bee!

Bee was a completely feral boy that was rescued by a local cat lover with over 25 cats in her home. He came into her care with a severe injury to his leg, and he was unable to put any weight on it.

Unfortunately, before she was able to get an amputation done for him, his rescuer passed away. All 25 of her cats needed a home, including Bee, who was still totally feral and in need of an amputation.

We knew Bee couldn't be a barn kitty with a front leg missing, so he stayed in our cat room after his surgery for over a year. We hoped to get him comfortable with people and tame enough for adoption. Unfortunately, even after a year, Bee just didn't trust us all the way. He was still very afraid of being touched anywhere but the top of his head.

We weren't sure anymore what the future looked like for Bee. We didn't want him to spend forever locked up in our spare bedroom, too afraid for us to even touch him or love him properly. But he couldn't be a true barn cat or outside cat either.

Thankfully, a good friend sent me the link to Coastal Cat Sanctuary's page. And I reached out to them about Bee. After speaking with them for several days, providing all of Bee's records and medical information and history, they agreed to accept him to their Sanctuary!

We drove him to their location in Southern Alabama this weekend, and that place is amazing! They take in so many of the unwanted babies that would NEVER find forever homes otherwise. They have a large property with cat-proof fencing, loads of toys and exercise equipment for kitties, and plenty of places for them to stay warm or cool all year round. It is incredible, and the love they have for each and every cat in their care is so obvious.

Bee finally found his PERFECT forever place. A three legged feral without a shot in the world found a home with some amazing people, and I could not be more happy for him.

Thank you again, Coastal Cat Sanctuary!

Please go like their page and follow them to see all the amazing work they do for cats like Bee. They are good people doing the hard part of rescue day in and day out! There are also so, so many cats they are already providing constant medical care for, so they need all the support they can get. ❤️

💙 Appreciation Post 💙

This is a necessarily long appreciation post for my dear friend and rescue partner, Tobie Watford Smith.

There is no one I can think of that deserves the title of “Unsung Hero” quite like Tobie. This wonderful human being is constantly helping in the background with little to no recognition, and she would never ask for any either.

Tobie and I met while she was helping chase down and capture Nessie, a disabled rescue pup in New Augusta. While working together there, we noticed a large cat colony in need as well. After getting Nessie home and safe, the two of us silly ladies went out there with nets and a prayer, neither of us being familiar with how to catch feral cats. We quickly realized trapping was the safer way, after I got a little torn up by a very spicy one-eyed kitten.

After that, we just clicked. Tobie is one of the fiercest warriors for any and every animal I’ve ever met. If there’s anyone that truly will fight for the underdogs and the unwanted, it’s Tobie. When I started this rescue, I did so knowing that I wanted Tobie on my side, and she was more than happy to join in. It was just the two of us for a long time, doing the best we can. I took the cats into foster, and Tobie made sure they (and I) had whatever was needed. With a whole gaggle of rescue dogs that nobody else would help at home, she doesn’t have a safe place for cats, but she made sure to support me and our rescue kitties in whatever way she could.

That didn’t change one bit when I took over the shelter. She always showed up when she could, despite having an insanely busy work schedule and so many of her own to take care of. When it got hot, and we realized there was no AC in the kennels, Tobie spent her own money to buy one so we could at least try to keep them cool. If those animals had any kind of need we couldn’t meet, she did her best to help us provide it for them. She loved every single one of them she met like they were her own.

When I left the shelter, and I had surgery on my ankle, Tobie still showed up for me. To this day, she is always there if I need her. When I stopped that day to pick up Jack and Jill, having no idea what I would do with them, I called her first. I asked her if she would help me figure it out, and of course, she said yes. She is constantly doing for our animals and any animals in need that she can help. Be it food, straw, blankets, dog houses, flea and tick medicine, she will do whatever she can to make sure a dog is comfortable and loved as much as possible.

There are many people that do rescue and revel in the praise and recognition that it brings them. Tobie isn’t that person. She is one of the most genuine, generous, and consistent people I’ve ever met. She doesn’t ask for anything in return, yet she is always there to help when people need her. There isn’t a perfect way for me to ever repay her, but as long as she knows that me and the animals appreciate and love her, I hope that’s enough!

We love you, Tobie! Lucky’s wouldn't be here without you, and every life we have saved in the last few years is, in part, thanks to you. The rescue (and me) are so incredibly lucky to have you on our side! 😊

I love Big Mama's little stubby legs. ❤️❤️❤️

Big Mama did not love the big bow I put on her for Christmas pictures. 🤣

P.S. This girl would really love a good home and a fresh start for the new year. ❤️

🎄All I want for Christmas is...🎄

Big Mama (or as I like to call her, Shortcake) is hoping to find a new home for the holidays! She would love to be somewhere she can get plenty of attention, since she is a big cuddle / lovebug. It's important that she has an experienced owner because she has a couple common little sassy kitty quirks like love biting / overstimulation during petting sessions (even though she loves them). She would also like to have other calm cats to be friends with, since she doesn't like being alone in the cat room.

Before Big Mama can be adopted, however, she needs some extra care. We suspect she has some type of UTI or bladder issue currently, and she seems uncomfortable because of it. It could be from stress or untreated due to being an indoor/outdoor kitty previously. We got her an appointment with our amazing vet for tomorrow, so hopefully we can get her comfortable soon!

Please consider opening your heart to this sweet girl that lost everything! 🥺

I know it's not always possible for people to adopt, and lots of people, like us, are flat out of space. If you'd like to help Big Mama without having to bring her home, please consider donating for her vet visit tomorrow. Donations are tax deductible, and they help make it possible for us to get the kitties the care they need, and help more in the future.

The things we do for love. 🤦‍♀️

Lately, since becoming an inside cat full time, Music has developed this rather annoying habit of repeatedly, and incessantly, tipping over and dragging around the water bowls around the house.

What we realized recently while trying to pour water into one of the bowls, is that Music really wanted to drink moving water. And if it wasn't moving, he would make it move by pulling it around or dumping it out before drinking it.

Finally, we had a reason, so we could come up with a solution. Thankfully, this was an easy one to solve. Now, Music has his very own water fountain to drink from with constantly moving water. And he couldn't be happier!

It has been a major adjustment for Music to stay inside 24/7 after his accident, especially after losing his leg. So anything we can do to make him a little happier inside, we are eager to do. ❤️

❤️ Meet Big Mama ❤️
Or as I like to call her, Shortcake!

Intake is still on hold currently, but a very personal situation required us to take in this sweet girl.

Big Mama is not very big at all. She's a rather small girl with short, stubby legs. However, she's got a larger than life personality! She is a cute little diva that has no problem demanding attention and planting herself in your lap uninvited. Although an adult, she still likes to play with dangly toys like a kitten sometimes! In her previous home, she was an inside/outside cat, and she's done well being inside full time as of late. She would do best in a home with adults and other calm pets, but she is also clearly adaptable.

🟢Pros to Adopting Big Mama:
- She's the cutest little shortcake you've ever seen.
- She is extremely affectionate and cuddly.
- She gets along with other cats if she has time to get to know them.
- She's quiet and old enough to not be bouncing off the walls.
- She uses the litter box with 90% accuracy. (See cons for the remaining 10%)

🔴Cons to Adopting Big Mama:
- She likes to give little love bites (not too hard though) in the middle of cuddling sometimes. However, if you teach her not to, she will learn and listen!
- If there are soft blankets on her little beds, she may leave a small ti**le behind on the blankets.

This beautiful little lady just lost the only human that ever properly cared for her, and she needs some time and patience to settle into a new environment. But there is absolutely no doubt about how much love she still has to give to her new person.

She is already fixed and will be updated on vaccines before adoption. Adoption fee can be waived with approved Vet references.

💙 Rescue Update 💙

Life's been kicking my tail lately, so I haven't updated on the status of the rescue, and our babies, in awhile. But finally, here's an update!

First, thank you to those that always donate and always share and support our animals. You are the only reason I feel like it's worth it to keep trying!

Intake is still on hold due to the following reasons:

1. We are still working on putting together a retirement home / sanctuary building for the cats that do get stuck with us long-term. Our house has no more space for cats, and even the amount we have is a bit overwhelming for our family.

2. We do have three adoptables currently that are admittedly tough asks. One is our sweet Tigger, a 15 year old senior with hyperthyroidism. Then, there are two that are a bonded pair: Shadow and Bee. Shadow is a 4 year old sweetheart, and Bee is a shy, semi-feral tripod that is around 7-8.

3. We still owe 1200$ to our vet (Southern Veterinary Clinic in Lucedale) between Music's amputation and Tigger's bloodwork and medication. That has to be paid down before we can help more kitties. We are just making payments as we work towards putting together a cat house.

Also, Music had his amputation following his accident, and he's recovered phenomenally. What has changed about him though is how absolutely CLINGY he is with me now. Since I picked him up that day, after he was hurt, he now sees me as his protector. He can't stand to be away from me at all, and he meows constantly at me while I'm walking around the house. I couldn't imagine ever separating him from me now, so he is officially a foster fail. 🎶🎉

I miss rescuing, and I see so many seniors and special needs kitties needing help online. Unfortunately, all rescues are experiencing a lack of fosters, and my house only has so much space. We would never give up on the difficult babies we do have, so they have to take priority. We are still responsible for feeding and providing vet care to the ones we have until they are adopted. So it is impossible to help any more until more space is created and funds are sorted out. But I am actively working on making those things happen!

In the meantime, I always like to remind people that these seniors and special needs kitties have so much love to give. If you want to save a life that not many other people would save, consider choosing a senior or a special needs pet. ❤️

💙 Music Update 💙

Surgery went well, and he's recovering. Learning to walk without his back leg has been a challenge, especially with the litter box, but he's improving every single day. Most importantly, he's more and more himself. The neurological deficits are slowly disappearing each and every day. It's very obvious how grateful he is to be alive, to be care for, and to be loved.

Now begins the long process of paying down the bill. Thank you, Blue, for always being a steady and consistent supporter of ours. 😊 It really does mean the world. And thank you to everyone who shared our post. If even one person that sees his story decides to let that sweet outside kitty they've been feeding come in, it's worth it.

10/03/2025

💙📣 Music News 📣💙

Unfortunately, the back leg does need surgery. All of his tendons and ligaments are torn pretty much, so the leg is currently not usable and won't heal on its own. There's a high probability that it will be outright removed when he goes in for surgery on Monday.

Hopefully, fixing the leg will make it easier for him to start learning how to walk normally again. Most importantly, it will get him out of pain. I know it hurts him, and with the monitoring and medicine for his neurological issues, he can't really take pain meds right now.

Our poor man is going through it, but this surgery will be a huge step in his recovery.

Donations are tax deductible and can be made digitally, or by calling into Southern Vet for Music under our rescue.
