Some pictures just in from customers using Meitler bulls. More and more cattlemen are figuring out that a Meitler Hereford bull on their black cows is pretty hard to beat. Baldy steers that will top the market and baldy heifers that are some of the most sought after females in the country.

Pictures from southeast Nebraska and western Kansas.

Here’s a quick study of an Angus cow family at our place. It actually is anything but quick once you start looking. We highlighted our #137 angus cow a few weeks back that stems from this cow family. The 3001 cow pictured is also a daughter of the #689 cow that had her last calf here at 19 years of age. The grandmother had her continuous productive streak end here at 17 yrs. The list below is the age each cow was when she had the preceding daughter not the age she died or went out of production.

Starting in 1942
12 year old
13 year old
3 year old
11 year old
15 year old
15 year old #689
14 year old #137 (13) #3001
That brings us to 2026

Observation of the past can help predict a more reliable future! Longevity can most definitely be carried through

#115 is another great example of our maternal cowherd. She has an outstanding son that will sell in our April production sale as a 2 year old. He is pictured here last summer as a calf. Keep an eye out for him in April!

A follow up to our most recent post on our #700 bull. This bred heifer is out of #700 and an ideal 11 year old Angus cow. Combined age of her sire and dam is 20 years and both are still producing.

She is set to calve in February and will sell with calf at side in our April production sale.

Video is of our #700 bull, he is now 9 years old and we plan on using him this fall and again next summer when he will be 10. He has bred cows both spring and fall since he was a yearling.

This summer (age 9) he and 2 other bulls covered 90 angus cows in an 800+ acre pasture. When one of those other bulls got hurt just days into breeding season, we decided to not replace him and let #700 breed that many more. Of those 90 cows, I would bet he bred 70 or more of them himself at 9 years old! He is a breeding machine. Hard to imagine how many calves he has sired over his lifetime.

We used #700 on angus cows for years and Darris and I both believe his black baldy daughters are the best F1 females we have ever raised. They are feminine, deep bodied, with flawless udders. In 2024 we decided to give him some Hereford cows, mostly 9164G daughters. He didn’t disappoint, as he sired some awesome Hereford females that we are sure excited about.

His grandmother was born on our ranch in 1998. His mother left the ranch in 2023 after raising her last calf at 14 years old. #700 makes 3 generations spanning 28 years and still counting. That is longevity. His sire is the great 5110R bull raised by Coopers in Montana.

Several sons of #700 will sell in our 2027 production sale.

#701 is a 9 year old that is just reaching her prime. Highly productive and always calves in the first cycle. A two year old son will lead off our 2027 Production Sale.
