Day Before Spray Tan:
1. Exfoliate:
Exfoliate your skin thoroughly the day before your spray tan. Use a gentle exfoliant (preferably without oil) to remove dead skin cells. Focus on areas where the skin tends to be rougher, like elbows, knees, ankles, and feet. This will help the tan apply more evenly.
Best time to exfoliate: 24 hours before your spray tan appointment.
2. Shave or Wax:
If you plan on shaving or waxing, do so after exfoliating. This should also be done at least 24 hours before the tan to avoid irritation.
3. Moisturize:
You can apply a light moisturizer on your skin after exfoliating, especially if your skin is dry. This will help keep your skin hydrated and smooth, but avoid using any heavy creams or oils that could create a barrier for the tan.
4. Drink Plenty of Water:
Stay well-hydrated the day before your spray tan. Drinking water helps to keep your skin hydrated, which is important for an even, long-lasting tan.
Day of Spray Tan:
1. No Lotions or Oils:
Avoid applying any lotion, oil, deodorant, or makeup on the day of your spray tan. These products can block the tan from adhering to your skin.
2. Shower & Dry Skin:
Shower right before your appointment to remove any excess oils or sweat from your body, but ensure the water is cool or lukewarm, not hot. Hot water can open pores and affect how the tan develops. After showering, don't apply any products — your skin should be clean and completely dry before the spray tan.
3. Wear Dark, Loose Clothing:
Wear dark, loose clothing to your appointment to avoid any staining of your clothes and to ensure the tan has enough time to set without being disturbed by tight clothing.
These steps will help you get the best results from your spray tan!
