Hi Pat! My name is Makayla, I am just reaching out to tell you how impactful one of your pieces has been for me, specifically “Stick With Me”. I recently went through a hard break up forcing me to leave my two dogs and moving. After getting some ducks in a row I just started a job at an Animal ER and after walking into one of the rooms I stumbled upon “Stick With Me”! The two pups that I had with my ex were a Great Pyrenees and a Red Golden Retriever. It was in that moment that I knew everything was going to be okay. I can not tell you how much I needed a sign and your art gave that to me. Thank you ❤
(if insta allows me to i’m going to attach a picture of the dogs)

“ The current art movement in Paris aims not to reproduce subjects but to represent them through color. It seeks to pe*****te the nature of things by bolder brushwork, to interpret by exaggeration, and to convey form with light and color rather using them as mere decoration on a form. “The artist’s goal”, says Andre Derain, “should be to make the strongest possible presentation of his emotional reaction to a subject by using bold color and strong linear patterns.”

A statement that heavily impressed Emily Carr in Paris 1899-1913
My discovery of this statement made by Derain during the Fauvists movement has stirred my heart and mind. I believe this is how I paint. Specializing in Pet Portraits. Call me for inquiries.
