Wildlife Wednesday! The bighorn sheep are certainly busy this time of year and they spend a lot of time going back and forth from the main ranch to Big T Ridge. We were fortunate to watch these two ewes jump the fence while we were in the lesson ring.

Tip your hat Tuesday! We have to give a shout out to our amazing kitchen crew who make sure all of our guests receive the best when it comes to their ranch meals. Hip hip hooray! We have quite a few that work together to make it happen. We need to get them all together for a photo! Sarah Weiss Media

Motivation Monday! You may have had the chance to experience our little Challenge Course or ridden by it on horseback and wondered what it was. It's certainly been weathered over the years, but it still serves a wonderful purpose for team building exercises! We were honored to host Revital Colorado earlier this week. If you haven't heard of this organization, please check them out! Lifeline for our Frontline, bringing hope and support to our first responders by revitalizing their mind, body, and spirit. That's their mission, and we love being a part of it!

One year ago tomorrow, this beautiful couple celebrated their love with golden fall colors, plenty of laughter, and the cutest wedding crasher we’ve ever seen! 🐮🤍

Wishing them a very happy first anniversary—and hoping their second year together includes just as much joy, love, and unexpected ranch magic!

Featured Horse Friday. Who can recognize this wonderful mare that we said goodbye to recently. 30 years of love with this one. Reflecting on her life, it seemed a good time to share her literal reflections.

Throwback Thursday! Thank you, Susan Ashworth, for the memories! On the last full day of an October Cowgirl Roundup, a little over 9 years ago, the horses made a break for it, and ran to the winter pastures instead of finishing their last official day of the season. LaGarita led the way, and once they hit the fields, there was no convincing them to come back in. So the cowgirls bucked up and said goodbye to their mount for the week. We did have a handful of horses that had been on "vacation" in another pen, so the cowgirls cowgirled up and rode different ones that day. Or they cozied up by the fireplace instead. Stories for a lifetime. And some of those cowgirls now visit in June, hahaha.

Wildlife Wednesday! Oh dear, Clancy, what's there? Deer, of course. We waited for the does to run across the mountain side and up the ridge. Love when a horse sees wildlife far off in the distance, long before anyone else does...does. Haha.

Tip your hat Tuesday! We really miss having Sarah around to capture such heartfelt images. And to take it a step further, this photo represents those who've also moved on from the ranch in the past couple of years. Ben, on the left, sadly succumbed to a really bad colic last summer, such a sweet boy he was. Paige, center, well she's a local firecracker of an artist now, still staying busy in the horse industry as well. And then Rawhide, Ben's younger brother, lives a happy retirement over with Erika Franson, another previous wrangler of ours, and a PhD student at CSU. So...tip your hat to all of them, and raise your glasses in a cheers. Sarah Weiss Media

Did you know that Gray Wolf has been hosting Tipi Camp every summer at Sylvan Dale for 27 years? We think that's pretty amazing. Gray Wolf's ancestry includes Northern Cheyenne of the Great Plains and Micmac of the far Northeast. He has traveled the country for many years in search of knowledge from his People, and he has lived in his tipi for extended periods of time. He spent time on several reservations, learning what he could of lifeways from tribal elders and others. Gray Wolf also works with “at-risk” teens in intensive programs aimed at changing their paths. He has spent over four decades sharing his knowledge and interesting anecdotes with audiences of all ages in a diverse range of programs. We salute you, GW, even more so on Indigenous People's Day.
