Pet of the Week: Meet Phoot! 🐾

Phoot is a 10-year-old Boerboel with a sweet soul and a gentle, mellow spirit. In her previous home, she lived primarily outdoors, so life inside with her people is still something she’s getting used to. Little by little, she’s discovering just how nice it can be to curl up somewhere cozy with the people she loves.

Phoot is a sweet girl who needs a little time to warm up to new friends. She can be a bit skittish at first, but patience, kindness, and some tasty treats go a long way with her. Once she trusts you, her social side comes shining through, and you’ll find a calm, affectionate companion who is happy to be part of the family.

Her ideal home would offer the best of both worlds: a backyard where she can spend time outdoors and a warm, comfortable spot inside with her people. Phoot loves to explore and put her impressive nose to work, so scavenger hunts and sniffing games are some of her favorite ways to spend the day. Hide a few treats around the yard and watch her go!

Phoot does well with older children and would be a wonderful fit for a family looking for a laid-back companion to share quiet moments and fun adventures alike. Her golden years are ahead of her, and she’s ready to spend them with a family who will give her the patience and love she deserves.

This October marks three years since NOCO Humane expanded into Weld County and took over the Humane Society of Weld County (now known as NOCO Humane’s Weld Campus).

Since October 2023, 16,570 animals have come through our doors. That’s 16,570 lives changed for the better and cared for by our incredible teams and our generous community. Every one of those animals has a story, and every one of them found safe shelter and compassionate care.

Over these three years, we have continued to grow and strengthen the services we provide to Weld County. We expanded our ability by 52% to accept more owner-surrenders for families who make the difficult decision to rehome their pet.

This past spring, we began offering low-cost vaccine clinics through this campus, providing affordable preventive care for pets in our community.

More than 6,000 animals found new homes.

More than 4,100 animals were reunited with their families.

What we have accomplished at our Weld Campus in three short years is remarkable. We couldn’t fulfill our mission without our amazing and tireless employees, without our compassionate volunteers donating their time, and without our generous community that never fails to step in and show up for homeless pets.

On Saturday, the community showed up to support homeless pets in northern Colorado at the 28th Annual Top Cat & Tails Gala, brought to you by Poudre Pet & Feed Supply. With a goal of $225,000, your incredible generosity helped us raise a record breaking $287,000! We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, and every guest who helped us create the biggest impact possible for homeless pets.

This year's theme, Phantom of the Pawpera, brought with it elegance and theatrics, featuring a live performance from former Phantom of the Opera Broadway cast member, Patty Goble.

Bonnie is a 3-year-old Cane Corso mix with a heart of gold and a personality all her own – looking for a home. This sweet girl is a lover through and through, with a sassy, fun-loving side that’s sure to keep you smiling. She’s already crate trained, and if you want to see her light up, just hand her a chew toy that squeaks, crinkles, or makes any kind of noise.

Like many of us, Bonnie can be a little shy when she first meets someone new. She may be fearful or hesitant at first, but with patience, kindness, and a few tasty treats, she warms up and shows you just how affectionate she can be. Once you’ve earned her trust, you’ll have a loyal friend for life.

Bonnie mostly used the backyard for potty breaks in her previous home, so walking on a leash is still a new adventure for her. She’s looking for a patient family who can give her a little extra support as she builds her confidence and learns to enjoy exploring the world beyond the backyard.

With her people, Bonnie is a social gal and does well with older children. She’d also like to be the only pup in the house so she can soak up all the love and attention for herself.
