Elevated box searches are an excellent training exercise for developing odor obedience, independent searching, scent sourcing, and problem-solving skills and with thoughtful reinforcement placement and timing, elevated searches can teach dogs to identify the correct container without jumping, pawing, or becoming frustrated. By moving containers off the ground and placing them at different heights, we challenge dogs to work through a different odor picture rather than relying on familiar ground-level search patterns.
