3 Color’s Perfectly Misaligned also stepped into the ring for her second show! She learned a lot and picked up some new things along the way. Unfortunately, when stepping off the mat she slipped and didn't trust the floor anymore, but she got right back up and kept going. Proud of this young girl and excited to see her continue to learn and grow!

Then today, Sunday, August 30th, we wrapped up the weekend with a Bench Show!

A long weekend, a lot of ring time, plenty of learning, and some BIG accomplishments. Couldn’t be prouder of this crew!

Six weeks old means it’s evaluation time! This is when we do our temperament and conformation evaluations to help determine the best puppy-to-home matches.

I’ll be looking at each puppy’s structure, confidence, drive, personality, and overall temperament. From there, I’ll work with each family to make the best placement possible not simply based on looks, but on which puppy is the best fit for their future home and goals.

And tomorrow is another big milestone they’ll be getting their first round of puppy vaccinations! 💉❤️

They’re growing up way too fast! 🥹

The Importance of Picking a Dog That Fits Your Lifestyle (Part 2) 🐶

Why does it matter?
▶ No two breeds (or breed mixes) are going to be exactly alike.
▶ Knowing what you can reasonably care for and finding a dog who suits you and your lifestyle will help reduce the overpopulation of dogs in shelters and rescues. Also, by supporting ethical breeders and/or rescues, you'll avoid accidental (or intentional) backyard-bred dogs and won't be supporting puppy mills.
▶ If, even after your research, the dog you bring home doesn't work out or doesn't work out easily, a reputable breeder or rescue will take them back and/or provide you with additional support/resources.

After all, the last thing anyone wants to do is bring a new dog home and regret it.

⭐ The Importance of Picking a Dog That Fits Your Lifestyle 🐶

Choosing a dog is a big commitment!
Whether you want a puppy, adolescent, or adult dog, you could be committing to them for up to 15 years (or longer, in some cases) 💙

Considerations to make:

▶ What is your current living situation? Apartment, house, communal living?

▶ How much time and effort can you dedicate to training, exercise, enrichment, and grooming?

▶ Is this breed or breed type predisposed to certain health conditions or breed traits? Ex: allergies, hip dysplasia, herding instinct, prey drive, etc?

▶ What are your goals for this dog? Companion, sports, show? Do you want an active dog or a couch potato?

Matching a dog to their human (or humans) is not as simple as finding one that "looks cool". A herding dog or herding mix is much more likely to have vastly different needs than, say, a Golden Retriever or Greyhound.

If you decide that going through a breeder will better match what you're looking for, make sure the breeder is reputable, does all recommended health testing for the breed (not just Embark testing), and prioritizes health, temperament, and the betterment of the breed, rather than looks or profit.

If you decide that going through a rescue is best for you and your needs, also ensure that the rescue operates ethically, requires thorough applications/vetting, provides medical care for their animals (and provides those records), and is honest about the needs and behavioral knowledge of the animals in their care.
