We’re halfway through the month, and the donations are rolling in!

I think Dave and Emily had a little TOO much fun stealing to see who would win! 😂 But the real winners are our four-legged friends at the Animal Care Society.

Two seniors, one bond, and VERY specific dinner orders.

Ted and Didda are 14-year-old bonded kitties whose owners passed away, leaving them without anyone else to care for them. Now they're safe at ACS, but they have one very important request: don't mess with their dinner menu!

These two food critics insist on Tiki Cat Ahi Tuna & Prawns wet food and Iams Indoor Adult dry food. And trust us, we've tried everything else! We don't make the rules; Ted and Didda do. With a whole shelter full of hungry mouths to feed, keeping up with their pricey wet food preference can be a challenge, but these seniors have been through enough. If this is what keeps them happy and eating, we're happy to make it happen.

You can also purchase their food at any Feeder's Pet Supply or PetSmart and drop it off at ACS during open hours. Every can and every bag makes a difference!

Of course, we'd love to find these sweet seniors a forever home together, too! They're cat and dog friendly and would love a comfy, quiet place to lounge through their golden years. Until their special family comes along, helping us keep their favorite foods stocked is one of the best ways to show them some love.

Planning a visit to ACS? Take a look at our updated adoption hours!

Our adoption building is open Monday and Thursday through Sunday from 12 PM–4:30 PM. We are closed to the public on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Need to drop off donations while we're closed? You can leave them at the side entrance of our adoption building!

🐶 DOGS VS. CATS — LET THE FRIENDLY COMPETITION BEGIN! 🐱

We have TWO rooms of the exact same size that need to be filled — one for DOG donations and one for CAT donations!

Now it’s time to see which team can fill their room FIRST! 🏆

This is your chance to earn some serious bragging rights for your favorite four-legged friends while helping the animals currently in our shelter. ❤️

Whether you’re a dog volunteer, cat volunteer, or just an animal lover, show your support by donating items for your team!

🐶 DOG ROOM NEEDS:
• Wet dog food

🐱 CAT ROOM NEEDS:

🎃🐾 SPOOKY SNUGGLES, PUPPY KISSES & PILATES! 🐾🎃

Yesterday’s Pups & Pilates: Spooky Snuggles was such a fun time! 👻🧘‍♀️ Jelly and Soup joined us for the day in their adorable Halloween shirts and bandanas, and they were ready for all the attention!

Jelly was our social butterfly, making her rounds and saying hello to everyone she met, while Soup was a little more shy but still happy to soak up the love, too. 🧡🐶

Thank you to everyone who came out and spent part of your day with us. And a special thank you to our instructor Erica Scott for leading a great class and to Jennifer at Bloom Market for being such a wonderful host!

And somehow, despite all those puppy eyes, Jelly and Soup didn’t get snatched up yesterday! 👀 They’re both still looking for their forever homes and are ready to meet you at ACS. 🐾

As for what’s next… well, we may have something sweet in the works. 💕😉

🚨 PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE — DO NOT DUMP ANIMALS. 🚨

We know sometimes people find an animal and genuinely don't know where to turn. But leaving animals at a shelter, thrift store, business, or any other location without arranging for their care first can put them in serious danger.

These three babies were recently left at our thrift store. 💔 They are young, vulnerable, and completely dependent on people for their safety and care. Please do not leave animals outside our thrift store or shelter after hours. They can be exposed to extreme temperatures, other animals, traffic, illness, and other dangers — and there may not be anyone there to find them in time.

And while we absolutely want to help as many animals as we can, there is such a thing as quality over quantity. As a nonprofit, we can only take on the animals our staff, foster network, resources, and available space can physically and appropriately care for. We would much rather have the opportunity to talk with you and figure out the safest option than find an animal abandoned and at risk.

🐾 If you find an animal and don't know what to do, please reach out before leaving them somewhere.

A little update from our adoption building. 🐱💚

We want to be transparent about why we’ve temporarily paused adoptions. We’ve had cases of Giardia and Coccidia in the cat building. Both are common in shelter environments, treatable, and something shelters can unfortunately encounter despite their best efforts.

We’re incredibly thankful we haven’t dealt with this since opening our new cat building, but in a shelter environment, these things can happen.

Right now, we’re treating our cats, increasing cleaning and sanitation, and closely monitoring everyone while we get this under control.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience, but our promise is to our cats and our adopters. We want every cat leaving our shelter to have the healthiest possible start in their new home. 💚

This is temporary. Our cats are still waiting, and their happily-ever-afters are still ahead. 🐾

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we take care of our kitties!
