Hi y’all! We’ve received a few emails lately asking for help containing domestic pigeons. However, no contact or specific location information (like an address) is ever given in these emails. If you need urgent help with a bird, our voicemail is the fasted way to reach us. Otherwise, please give specific details when reaching out for urgent help. Thanks!

Happy Pigeon Appreciation Day from Sunday and Breeze, two racing survivors being lovingly fostered by Rachel Jeffery and available for adoption as a bonded pair!

As a reminder, our adoption application requires a photo of the physical cage you have already purchased for the bird in order to move beyond the initial application stage. Inspiration photos, screenshots of cages you plan to buy, or photos of cages still in progress do not meet this requirement.

To be clear, we do not require the cage to be decorated or fully set up at this stage. We discuss cage setup, enrichment, and dƩcor during the interview process, and we understand that many adopters prefer to wait until they have been approved before purchasing those items. However, the cage itself must already be in your possession.

Over time, we have made exceptions to this requirement at the request of applicants. Unfortunately, this has frequently resulted in applications being "pre-approved pending cage purchase," only for communication to cease after we have invested significant time reviewing applications and conducting interviews.

We are a small, volunteer-run rescue. Currently, only two volunteers are available to review applications and conduct interviews (one being myself), and I am personally undergoing multiple surgeries and medical procedures this summer. Because of this, we need to be mindful of where our limited time and resources are spent.

Thus, as stated on our application, only applications that include photos of the applicant's actual cage will be considered for follow-up communication. You are welcome to complete the application before purchasing a cage, but we will not begin the review process or reach out regarding the application until cage photos have been received.

We appreciate everyone's understanding and cooperation as we work to ensure our volunteers can continue helping as many birds as possible.

AVAILABLE: I’m Battle Ship, and yeah, I’ve already lived through more than most pigeons my age. I was found outside a Best Buy after what looked like a predator scare and a bad collision, still just a squeaking baby. I was cold, hurt, and way too young to be out on practice racing runs. A quick-thinking employee scooped me up and kept me safe until rescuers arrived. Honestly, that fast action is probably why I’m still here today.

I’m still growing up, which means I’m right in the middle of ā€œcoobertyā€ (pigeon puberty, and yes, it’s as awkward as it sounds). Some days I’m a little skittish, still figuring out the world and my place in it. But other times? My baby side sneaks right back out, and I’ll ask for soft cuddles and comfort like the little squeaker I recently was. My gender’s still a mystery, and my wings won’t ever carry me like a typical racer’s- but I get around just fine and I’m learning that I’m safe now.

What I need is someone who understands that growing up can be messy, especially after a rough start. With patience, kindness, and a little extra love during my awkward phases, I’m going to grow into a deeply devoted companion. I may not fly far, but I’ve got a lot of heart, and I’m ready to give it to the right home.

AVAILABLE: Hi there, I’m Willie, a sweet little Cuban pouter with a wandering streak and a whole lot of charm. I got my name from the people who found me, because while they cared for me they kept jokingly singing, ā€œWill she stay or will she go?ā€ Turns out, I stayed. After a week of trying to figure out where I belonged, they discovered my owner was all the way in Florida, far too far for me to ever make it home on my own, so they contacted DCPR to help me find a new future instead.

My wings were dyed when I was found, something commonly seen in female pouters used in the sport of thieving. While my gender isn’t officially confirmed, that clue makes everyone suspect I’m probably a girl. Whatever my past life looked like, though, I’m much more interested in people than games these days. I’ve been incredibly human-oriented since day one: sweet, flirty, curious, and always wanting to be part of whatever’s going on nearby.

I’m looking for a home where I can finally stop being ā€œwaywardā€ and just belong somewhere. If you’d love a sociable companion with lots of personality, soft coos, and a talent for winning hearts, I think I might be your perfect little runaway success story.

Have you filled out an application with us and not heard back? We’ve heard from a few people recently who discovered our response emails never made it to them. After checking our records, we found that we had replied, but unfortunately, our emails sometimes end up lost in spam folders.

We want everyone to know that we do respond to every application, whether approved or not. If you haven’t heard back within about 2-3 weeks, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email or message us here so we can make sure nothing slipped through the cracks!

AVAILABLE: Hey, I’m Cinco, and if you’re looking for personality, you’ve found it. I was discovered slouched and weak, just sitting alone on a car until a kind DCPR volunteer named Anne stepped in and scooped me up. I might have looked down and out back then, but don’t let that fool you- I’ve got a whole lot of spark, and I bounced back with plenty of attitude intact.

These days, I’m feisty, playful, and not afraid to make my presence known. My gender’s a mystery, but my vibe? Impeccable. I love to strut, sass, and keep things interesting, life’s too short to be boring. If there’s fun to be had, I’m probably already in the middle of it (or starting it).

I’m looking for someone who can keep up with me- someone who appreciates a bold little character and maybe even matches my energy. If you’re ready for a lively, entertaining companion with a big personality and an even bigger comeback story, I think we’ll get along just fine.
