The Herb Shack I specialize in growing culinary & medicinal herb plants and unique & unusual succulent plants. I se My herbal sundries include soaps, salves, and salts.

In 2005 I formed a backyard greenhouse business called "The Herb Shack". I grow a wide variety of culinary and medicinal herb plants from around the world that cannot be found in mass market stores. The Herb Shack offers premium herb starts grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides of any kind, making it healthier for us and the environment. I use biological controls (Integrated Pest Management) and USDA Certified Organic products only. I nourish microbial balance in the soil using some biodynamic principles and compost teas. I purchase high quality seeds that are certified organic or heirloom seeds that have not been treated nor genetically modified. My plants are for sale seasonally at the Douglass Loop Farmers Market in Louisville, April-August. As an outgrowth of the greenhouse business, I began studying and experimenting with the use of herb plants. Using my knowledge of plants and botanicals I created herbal sundries that are nourishing to the skin. These products use all natural ingredients and 100% pure essential oils - no synthetic fragrances. These are made fresh in small batches by hand using my home grown herbs when possible. I hope that you will enjoy my products and their uniqueness- compliments of Mother Nature!
