What actually makes someone an “experienced keeper?”
Is experience measured in years?
Number of animals kept?
The number of species you’ve worked with?
Is it success with difficult species?
The mistakes you’ve learned from?
Your willingness to learn when you already have years of experience?
There are people who have kept reptiles for decades. There are people who have kept dozens of species. And there are people who have spent years specializing in just one or two species.
All of those keepers have experience — but they’re different kinds of experience.
So where do YOU draw the line?
What makes you consider someone an experienced keeper?
There aren’t any points to win here, I’m just interested in how different keepers define it.
