Paw's Pet Pantry

10/07/2026

I hope everyone is doing well. We are working on gathering more donations for the next pet pantry. I'm was happy to read this article this morning. And
I will be learning more about these programs to share with others. 💙 Jo

Did you know that 30 million pets live in food-insecure households? Why that matters.

I want to ask for your help, only if you are able. My name is Jo, I saw the need for a pet pantry in our community and decided to get one going. Our very first distribution day was last December. Our goal is to GROW, and in time I have no doubt that we will. But for now, we meet once a month and distribute donated cat and dog food to pet parents and colony caretakers in need.
This will be my first post asking for public donations. We need cat and dog food and treats, in date and unopened. Our next pet pantry will be scheduled in mid October and with the holidays coming, I'd really like to have plenty to share. I can meet in Louisburg or the Epsom area. Feel free to send me a message if you feel led to donate to your local pet pantry. Thanks a bunch for taking the time to read.
And I absolutely want to send a BIG thank you to The Preserve at Lynch Creek and all their visitors that donated to the pantry last month, and BIG thank you to the managers at Tractor Supply in Henderson and Louisburg for always donating to the pantry, and BIG thank you to all those in the community that drop bags of treats and eats by to us to share with pet parents. Sometimes, it really does take a village. So thank you, Jo

💔 You can go to the site and scroll down to learn, or see, more about Phoenix. I decided not to post the hellish photos. 😩

Her story; Phoenix is an estimated one-and-a-half-year-old puppy found buried in trash at a homeless encampment in Holly Springs earlier last month. She was starving when a family discovered her, with severe anemia, bone infections, and wounds across her face. She was used as a bait dog. Her teeth were filed down so that she could not protect herself. And she recently had puppies 😭 The good news, she is safe and recovering from her first surgery nicely (toe amputated). Sadly, Phoenix has a host of painful costly injuries, but she has and continues to get the donations needed. I read on another post in another group that there is a petition to launch an investigation into the apparent dog fighting ring, which I've yet to locate, but am inquiring about.
Rehoming pets for free is NOT safe! And there does need to be legal guidelines for doing so.
Prayers for Phoenix. ❤️

WE did it...and now we’re doing it AGAIN! ❤️ Thanks to your incredible generosity, we matched the $1,000 grant from the The John and Christine Tortorella Family Foundation for Phoenix’s medical care.

Now they’ve challenged us to match ANOTHER $1,000! Phoenix came through her amputation and spay surgery yesterday and is recovering like a champ. While we’re celebrating this milestone, we know she still has a long road ahead. We’re closely monitoring a cherry eye that may require corrective surgery, along with her continued medical care as we learn more about the hardships she’s endured.

Can WE do it again? We think so.

🐾 Donate:
• Venmo: Longleaf Animal Rescue https://www.venmo.com/u/longleafanimalrescue

• DONATE link on our website! Www.Longleafanimalrescue.org

Thank you for giving Phoenix the second chance she deserves. ❤️ LETS DO THIS AGAIN!

❤️
