Hi all. We’ve just recently rescued an AG who a man in the neighbourhood village wanted to put out in the field after his father, the owner of the bird, passed away. We rescue German Shepherd Dogs and are in a steep learning curve on parrots.
My question is that whilst Chico (1 year old supposedly) becomes more and more playful and talkative he still bites. I’m reading training books who say to ignore the biting and continue training. It is really painful and bleeds a lot, is that really the only way? How can I get him to trust me and let me touch him and sit on my gingerbread without biting? Thank you ❤️

Hi all, is there anybody within this group that is involved with adopting/rehoming an African grey ?. I'm due to be evicted from my property at the end of june and I'm really struggling to find somewhere and I'm getting concerned about the whole situation so I have to consider rehoming my beautiful boy...she is a Healthy and lovely bird. Adorable and good and behaviour, tarmed and can talk. If anyone thinks they may be in a position to help out please get in touch.

This post is for a rehome due to my circumstances and not an advert for a bird for sale nor is he a bird with behavioural/health issues. The rehoming fee is well affordable and quite lesser than the price we adopted him .Am after just a good loving home! I could even give him out with his toys and cage

Happy World Parrot Day! 🦜

The African grey parrot is a neighboring species of the Grauer's gorillas in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. As part of our biodiversity conservation efforts, we protect these beautiful birds, which is vital work: these highly intelligent animals are classified as "endangered" by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Just like gorillas, the African grey parrots encounter many hardships and threats in the wild. 😕

It's critical to advocate and persevere for their survival, as they serve an important role in their ecosystems. We couldn't imagine a world without them! 🌍 🦜
