ADOPT ME, Iām Winnie
2 yo, 25 lbs
Hi, Iām Winnie. Iām a small-circle kind of girl.
I donāt need to be friends with everyone I meet. I like to take my time, get to know you, and decide for myself when weāre friends. Iām more of a slow burn.
But once youāre one of my people, Iām VERY into you. Iām cuddly, ridiculously happy when you come home, and a big fan of morning snuggles and sleeping as close to you as physically possible. I love playing fetch and tug with my Lamb Chop, showing off my extremely impressive list of commands, and going for car rides with my head out the window. Truly, put me in the passenger seat and I have no notes.
I do have some big feelings about the world. New people make me nervous, Iām sensitive about being handled in certain ways, and I really donāt like feeling trapped or having my space invaded. I need someone who understands anxious dogs and knows that when I growl or show my teeth, Iām communicating that Iām uncomfortable, not being ābad.ā
If I feel scared or trapped, I can try to bite, so my person needs to take those boundaries seriously. The good news is that my triggers are generally predictable, and with the right environment, routine, positive-reinforcement training, and thoughtful management, I can be set up for success.
My ideal world is pretty simple: a calm, very routined home with no children or other dogs, someone patient who will give me plenty of time to decompress, and a person who doesnāt need me to love every stranger who walks through the door.
I donāt need a huge world or a million friends. I just need a safe one and someone who gets me.
And maybe a passenger seat.
