Claws and Paws Animal Rehab

Claws and Paws Animal Rehab Animals can benefit from physical rehabilitation just like humans! Contact me to help your pet live a happier, healthier, more active life.

I have been a Licensed Physical Therapist for 15 years. I have always been an avid animal lover and the longer I practiced on humans, the more I began to wonder if the same principles would also benefit non-humans. Four years ago, I began the transition to treating multiple species--dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs, and other small animal pets. For nearly three years, I worked at California Animal Rehabi

litation treating animals full-time. The results have been so amazing and rewarding that I decided to open Claws and Paws Animal Rehab to give myself a more flexible schedule so that I may devote more time to outreach services to promote public awareness of the benefits of animal physical rehabilitation. I have written several articles for national pet websites including Petcha and Small Animal Channel as well as teaching a series of continuing education webinars to other professionals through the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences on Animal Rehabilitation. All animals need strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination in order to live a happier, healthier, more active life. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, my speciality is the musculoskeletal system-- muscles and joints and how it all works together. In fact, many refer to Physical Therapists as "movement specialists." I believe that the best treatment strategy is a "team approach." Physicians and Veterinarians are extremely well trained in diagnosing and treating disease. Physical Therapists are extremely well trained in treating movement dysfunctions. I believe that the two specialities working together provide the best recipe for success--therefore, promoting a happier, healthier, more active life for your pet.

As always, I am still treating patients at each patient's individual primary veterinarian's office through "Claws and Paws Animal Rehab." However, I am proud to announce that I have been invited to join the amazing team of veterinarians, technicians, and assistants at Limehouse Veterinary Clinic. By joining the Limehouse team, you now have even more options to receive the necessary rehabilitation treatment for your furry child. Our brand new location has been fully outfitted with state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment. As many of you already know, I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy and have been treating patients for 16 years. I treated humans for 12 years, and the previous 4 years, I have dedicated my skills to helping animals. Limehouse Veterinary Clinic has been committed to delivering the highest possible level of service and care for your furry children for many years. It's that commitment to quality and personalized care that drew me to join the wonderful team of professionals and build a Physical Rehabilitation Department that delivers the same superb, personalized, quality of care that you already trust Limehouse Veterinary Clinic to provide. I am now accepting new patients at Limehouse Veterinary Clinic-- outside referrals are accepted as well for all domesticated pets--call to schedule an Initial Physical Rehabilitation Assessment for your non-human child. Although we are a full-service, holistic veterinary practice, we, at Limehouse Veterinary Clinic value the "team approach" for treating your non-human children. Your primary veterinarian will be kept informed of your child's progress throughout the rehabilitation process and any input from your primary veterinarian is invaluable. I look forward to meeting you and your pet!

Jackpot is a very lucky piglet who basically won the "piglet lottery" and scored a nice home. Thank you to the band new parents who saved her from being slaughtered for food. She is so obviously grateful!!! :)

Here's Tank working on improving his ankle and knee rage of motion while being fully supported against my body and sitting on a towel roll-- to avoid putting too much pressure on his joints, but to use a little bit of his body weight and gravity to achieve the motion. It also helps promote proper posture. Nice job Tank!

So far, we are making progress with regards to improving the range of motion in his hind limb. But, the protocol and the overall treatment process is a very lengthy one. Luckily, Tank has wonderful parents that are fully committed to his home program and an entire team of medical professionals who are collaborating together to help Tank through this difficult time. Hang in there Tank!

Today, we had Dr. Jan Steele here to start Tank-aru on a new physical therapy program. Hope the Botox makes the difference!

Chester passed away this morning at around 2:20am. May he rest in peace. He was a very special little guy. At the age of about 10-12 years old, he suffered a severe injury that resulted in his hind limbs being paralyzed. His owners could not care for him so they relinquished him and he was adopted by an amazing family that truly treated him as if he had always been their son. They gave him a second life, and it was obvious that Chester appreciated it and enjoyed every minute to the fullest. Until we meet again, Chester...

Chaos may rein all around, but taking a "cat nap" is essential. Even if it's only a single moment in time that you stop and try to "feel peace" Then, use the peace to guide you through the chaos. 🐾
