This is so difficult to post -

My girl didn’t make it, Stella passed away on Saturday morning.

I am still in shock and disbelief and it is hard to write this through my tears. I never thought I’d leave that morning and never see my Stella again.

I was out of town, and when I left Friday morning, Stella seemed fine. Several hours later, when my daughter arrived, she found Stella unresponsive. That’s how quickly pyometra can creep up.

The closest Vet ER is about 25 minutes away and my daughter knew Stella would not survive that drive so she took her to a vet around the corner from my house where Stella was an established patient and they refused to treat her. My daughter then took Stella to another clinic about a minute away and they were waiting outside to help get Stella out of the car. They worked on Stella for two hours and were able to get her stabilized to survive transport to the Vet ER.

Once stabilized, my daughter took Stella to the closest Vet ER and they said they could do surgery as soon as Stella was stable enough. At 10 p.m. the surgery was done and Stella survived. The next morning at 8:00 a.m., the vet called and said Stella wasn’t bouncing back and that he didn’t think she’d survive. Stella passed away at 11:00 a.m.

My heart is broken.

I want to thank Dr. Allison Klee at Dr. Ron’s clinic in Simi Valley for skipping her lunch break and all of her hard work in getting Stella stabilized for transport and also Dr. Gurmani at Topanga Vet Clinic for doing his best to save my girl.

Run free my beautiful little girl from Russia. My only peace is knowing that you are with my other love, Stewart. I will never forget either one of you.

In memory of Stella, our beloved furry family member. We unexpectedly lost her to Pyometra, despite all efforts to save her.

For those who knew her as "Cheddar" from the TV show Brooklyn Nine-Nine, she brought joy to many. We're deeply grateful for the support of our friends and family during this challenging time. If you would like to contribute to Stella's memorial fund, your kindness will be greatly appreciated. It will help us cover the unexpected medical expenses and honor her memory.
