šŸ†˜Shy boy Bear needs adoption or rescue by Tues June 2nd EOD at North Central LA shelter šŸ†˜

Bear is a young, sensitive dog who needs immediate placement to save his life. Bear came from a place of instability and needs our help to leave his past behind & start anew in a loving home!

Bear was picked up in early May after a bite incident occurred while he was loose on the street. His owner and the victim were transients. At intake, the shelter noted Bear showed no signs of aggression, but was completely frozen in fear.

He spent his 1st weeks shutdown, but volunteers are now seeing him open up. He is still timid, but we see real potential in this young boy! He has gone from cowering in his kennel to waiting at the door for walks. He walks easily on leash and responds to handler direction. He has started to take an interest in treats- cheesešŸ˜‹-and even solicit a bit of affection.

In playgroups with other dogs, he initially just laid in the yard, very unsure. More recently - mingled, steerable, timid & appropriate greetings, kept to self. Just this past Friday, Bear had a playdate with a social female husky where he initiated and enjoyed bouts of play🄹

We wish we had more time to get to know Bear, but due to his intake history, he has been scheduled for euthanasia. If not adopted or rescued by June 2 EOD, or he will be euthanized the following morningšŸ’”
Bear needs a patient hero to give him the fresh start he deserves! An experienced, caring person who can provide a stable environment where he can feel safe, acclimate at his own pace, and finally bloom.

šŸ›‘Help to Save Bear now!

RESCUEDšŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰ Thank you Frosted Faces FoundationšŸ’— Please donate towards Rex’s care at https://frostedfacesfoundation.org/donate

We’re WORRIED about Grandpa REX. He DESPERATELY needs a soft place to landā€¼ļø

Rex was adopted as a puppy back in 2014 and is now spending his golden years back in the shelter after his owner was arrested.

Since returning on April 6, staff have documented several medical and age-related concerns including worn teeth, chronic skin issues with hair loss and flaking, stiffness and a slow gait, eye cloudiness, and ongoing mobility discomfort. He has been receiving medications and frequent rechecks at the shelter, but he would greatly benefit from more extensive veterinary care and the comfort of a home environment.

Despite everything, Rex remains social and gentle. He has participated in shelter playgroups with other calm, low-energy dogs where he politely mingled and coexisted well.

Let’s get Rex seen and get him out!

URGENT! Handsome, volunteer favorite Panda has landed on the URGENT LIST at North Central Los Angeles Shelter and desperately needs a hero to give him the loving, responsible home he deserves!

He is beloved by volunteers, confident and engaging in the yard, AND he’s aced the training program—but he’s been overlooked for over FOUR months and shelter life is beginning to wear on him.

If he’s not adopted or a qualified, committed foster steps up so that a rescue gets involved, the shelter could place him on the euthanasia list THIS week! Contact Smiling Brinks or DM US if you have questions or want to meet him!

Share this reel! Tag dog lovers and rescues!

Panda (A2249909) is a personal favorite of mine and of so many other volunteers. He loves life, people and especially fetch. He’s shown himself to be very tolerant in playgroup—even if he’s not the most playful or engaging dog with his four-legged friends.

He’s stunning and a tad pushy—especially when it comes to fetch, so its recommended that he go to a home experienced with larger breeds and with people that can work with him to help him slowly decompress from the shelter and become his best doggie self.

Panda is a recent graduate of the K9 Youth Alliance Positive Enrichment Series where he was named ā€œBest Shoulder to Cry Onā€.
Panda was hand-selected to participate in that program by professional trainers. He passed a 16-point behavioral assessment, received 12+ hours of 1:1 training and group socialization, and showed off all of his new skills in a live graduation demo.

Panda needs someone to show up for him before it’s too late! He has so much love to give, and is ready to give it to a forever family. New adopters receive a free virtual 90-minute consultation, so stop on by North Central Shelter to meet Panda todayšŸ’–

If you didn’t know Twinkle’s story, you would never imagine the loneliness she has endured for the past 3 months.

Twinkle is a 5 year old girl who strayed in to the shelter with her friend, ā€œLittle Star,ā€ just over three months ago now. Little Star was of course quickly adopted but Twinkle was left behind, never to see her friend ever again.

It’s obvious that these two were a part of a family at one point in their life but the circumstances as to how or why they ended up in the shelter are unknown. What is more certain, however, is that Twinkle knows many tricks already and shows signs of being potty-trained.
She has also done well in playgroups with other dogs her size at the shelter and was a recent graduate of the K9 Youth Alliance shelter enrichment training programšŸ‘

It’s so hard to make these dogs stand out when so many of them look the same😢 but hopefully people will see that Twinkle truly is deserving a home and I’m sure she would bring great joy to whoever gives her that chance.

Please consider adopting Twinkle or fostering her through a rescue. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to this page directly or go meet Twinkle in person! All of her details and the shelter’s info will be listed below:
