Thanks to Charles Sherrington, dog behavior or the scratch reflex was discovered! ❣️

This is why when you or your dogs scratch their belly they have a natural response and move their leg. 🐾

The dog has a “saddle” region which is the sides of the belly, the under belly and their flanks! 🐶

We’ve all seen our fur babes do it. The scratch area that causes their leg to move uncontrollable. This is actually to help dogs protect themselves from fleas, ticks and other irritations, but this doesn’t always mean your dog doesn’t enjoy those belly pets. Their body language will let you know if it becomes too much or they will turn back over and walk away!

Did you know that carob is use as an alternative to chocolate in some of your fur babes treats?! 😮

Carob is a superfood, that has many nutritional benefits. It has antioxidants hat help reduce the risk of cancer and also great for support your dog’s digestive system! ✨

On top of all that, carob has magnesium, calcium and potassium. 🐶

Sounds like a way better alternative to us!

If you’re thinking of using carob powder in your fur babe’s treats, make sure it’s in it’s pure organic form and doesn’t contain xylitol! ❣️

Dog’s don’t need a jump start of caffeine to their morning, like some of us humans do. 🤣

Fur babes are more sensitive to caffeine than us however the amount that is toxic to your pup(s) can depend on the size and health of your pets. 🐾

And who knew, there are more things in your kitchen than you probably think containing caffeine. ☕️

While it’s love to sit with your perrito and enjoy your morning cup of coffee or tea, their drink of choice should always be water! 🐶

Did you know that your fur babes have a reflective layer in the back of their eye that makes it look like their eyes glow in the dark? ❣️

This is due to the tapetum lucidum.  It’s in the back of the retina and it reflects light back onto the retina to amplify light in dark environments! 👀

How cool is that. Some dogs however, don’t have a tapetum, usually in blue eyed dogs, and they don’t get that reflection the same as the dogs that have one. Every pup is different, just like us humans! 🐶

We spent last weekend in DTLA at the Metropolis Luxury Apartments and let’s just say these fur babes got spoiled! ❣️

The resident doggies enjoyed a day of treats, sunshine and hanging with their puppy pals. 🐾

We love meeting our fur babe fan in the real world and also made some new very happy customer friends! 🐶

So we’ve all seen a dog with two different eye colors but did you know the reasons why this may happen to some fur babes?

The condition is called heterochormia and it happens for a few reason. 👀

All dogs are born with blue/grey eyes however as they get older sometimes their eyes don’t change color. This could be because canine genetics. 🐾

Siberian Huskies, Australian shepherds, Dalmatians, Border Collies are just a few of the more common breeds you see different eye colors in. 🐶

Heterochromia can also be caused by eye trauma or health issues. Consulting with a vet about any underlying issues is always important if your pup has had an eye injury.

Overall this condition is usually no cause for concern and your fur babe can live a long healthy life, with their two different colored eyes! ❣️

Did you know that your fur babe’s noses can change with seasons? ❣️

Now not every dog’s nose color will change but some do, and it can be a combination of reasons, including, temperature changes, hydration, or sun exposure. 🌞

In the winter your pup(s) nose may be lighter and in the summer you may notice it darkens. Just like humans environmental factors can have an impact on their noses / skin colors. 🐾
