Catopus Egon Kraken Attack on the High Seas.
My maternal grandmother was a very creative and crafty person with lots of interests. When I knew her, she was more in a cooking, quilting, clothes-making phase, but I knew she had done some painting as she gave me her set of oil paints and palette knives and there were a few paintings hanging around the house. It's been 10 years since she passed on. Going through my parents' basement, I found several of her practice paintings and studies. She did a few of these monochrome ships. I thought it would be fun to collaborate with her on a finished product. I tried not to change her painting hardly at all, aside from my catopus additions.
I'm an idiot and didn't get a good picture of the original before I started working on it but I did get one with only my white sketch lines.
It was really fun to paint something for me and to think about her while we painted together across time.
Thanks, grandma. I miss you and love you forever💗
