Mango Photo Shoot โ€” Day 7 ๐Ÿฅญโค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน

A week ago today, at approximately 7pm, a person made the decision to try to take your life.

He shot you in the head twice, left you lying in the road to die, and then somehow went on with his day.

But Mangoโ€ฆ you lived.

For the last seven days, we have watched you fight. We have watched you get stronger. We have watched you take your first steps, eat, give kisses, wag your tail and slowly begin to understand that the hands touching you now are here to LOVE youโ€ฆnot hurt you.

There is a part of me that wants to stay angry. I think anyone who looks at what was done to you feels that anger.

But today I am praying something different.

May the Lord remove the hate from our hearts so that all of that energy can be poured into the love you need to heal.

We may never understand why someone chose cruelty that night, but we get to choose what happens next.

And what happens next is LOVE.

You are surrounded by it, Mango.

Seven days ago someone left you to die.

Today you are alive.
You are healing.
You are loved.
And girlfriendโ€ฆyou are absolutely BEAUTIFUL. โค๏ธ

TO THE WOMAN WHO BROUGHT MY NUGGET HOME LAST NIGHTโ€ฆ THANK YOU. โค๏ธ

Something absolutely terrifying happened after the storm last night, and I didnโ€™t even know it was happening.

I had already given up on the power coming back, took my meds and went to sleep. Nugget is doing well enough now that he can use his doggy door on his own, so when he went outside, there was no reason to think anything was wrong.

What none of us realized was that the storm hadnโ€™t just brought down a tree in our front yard. It had also broken part of our backyard fence, which had been locked and secure.

And Nugget, being the curious little boy he is, found the opening and went exploring.

Apparently, he made his way around to our front door and was barking, trying to get our attention. We didnโ€™t hear him. I was sound asleep.

At some point, my parents heard someone banging on the front door. A woman told them she had almost hit Nugget because my poor baby had wandered into the road. By that point, I think he was just looking for people.

Thankfully, this was still in my neighborhood, and somehow, in what feels like an absolute miracle to me, she recognized Nugget from my Facebook. And the cone sealed the deal.

She picked him up. She knew who he belonged to. And she brought my baby home.

I never got to speak to her because I was asleep through all of it. I donโ€™t know who you are, but I really hope you see this.

Thank you. Truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

I cannot begin to describe how incredibly stressed and distraught I would be if something happened to Nugget. That little dog is my family. He is my baby. And knowing how differently last night could have ended makes me sick to even think about.

You saw him. You stopped. You recognized him. You kept him safe. And you brought my Nugs back home to my family.

You obviously know where I live ๐Ÿ˜‚ so please feel free to swing by sometime. I would love the chance to actually meet you and thank you properly.

After a night when this storm caused so much damage and chaos for so many people, Iโ€™m just overwhelmingly grateful that someone cared enough to make sure one little lost dog made it safely back to his family.

Thank you for taking care of my baby when I didnโ€™t even know he needed someone to take care of him. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

And yesโ€ฆ the fence is being addressed IMMEDIATELY. Nuggetโ€™s unauthorized neighborhood adventure career is officially over.
