🚨DUBAI is scheduled to die at South Los Angeles and needs rescue by 6/27. 🚨

He's been at the shelter for less than a month but alerted for euthanasia because he snarled, growled, and bared his teeth when staff came to his kennel door to give booster shots. This poor pup's natural, in-kennel, fear-based reaction not only landed him on the euth list, it is now precluding public adoption. DUBAI is available for rescue only.

We urge anyone to look at DUBAI's actual record and his actual notes. He came to the shelter as a terrified dog. In his first few days, DUBAI growled and showed teeth when strangers stood at his kennel door. Notably, however, whenever any handlers actually took DUBAI out of his kennel, there were no reported problems with kennel retrieval.

In fact, DUBAI had been showing progress in playgroup and significant improvement with volunteers. For example, during his initial playgroup assessment, DUBAI was wary of handling, panicky with leash pressure, gave timid greetings, described as soft (in demeanor with other dogs), and often kept to himself. But in subsequent playgroup sessions, DUBAI began displaying bouts of play and gave appropriate greetings.

This video shows DUBAI in playgroup just two days ago and also one-on-one with a volunteer yesterday. DUBAI has come so far, even recently soliciting human contact and affection. He is a scared shelter dog trying to connect and longing for love & understanding.

Despite his progress, he is now out of time and must be rescued by close of business on Saturday, June 27th. DUBAI is scheduled for euthanasia: 8AM Sunday, June 28th.

🆘🚨1 YEAR OLD SHAROL NEEDS
RESCUE BEFORE SATURDAY 6/27🚨🚨

Sharol is just 1 year old and is already out of time. 💔

He was surrendered in March due to landlord issues. They said they got him when he was 2 months old. He was a medium energy outside dog, who liked to play but also liked hanging out in his favorite spot.

Sharol was stressed on intake, but staff said he was friendly when they handled him for vaccinations a few days later. He was very treat motivated, took treats gently, and was loose with tail wagging while in medical.

In the yard with us, he's been very affectionate, often rolling over for belly rubs. He occasionally will bounce around with toys too. He's a big, strong, young boy, so will need a capable handler who can give him some basic training.

He's a sweetie though and we hope someone gives him a chance!🙏

Sharol has been in playgroup over 30 times. He was described as social initially, even being designated a playgroup rockstar a few times, but he became more selective, specifically less tolerant of male dogs. They've been running him in yards with just female dogs for that reason and he's been fine. They started including a few social males in his most recent sessions though.

Yesterday, Sharol got stiff with the male dog and ended up overcorrecting and jumping the dog, starting a dog fight. They tried to steer him out with the shake can and pet corrector, but Sharol kept re-engaging, so they had to physically pull him away by his collar/ leash. He inflicted a few small wounds and scratches on the othe dog.

Sharol was immediately euth-listed and made RESCUE ONLY following the fight. He dies on SATURDAY 6/27 anytime after 8AM.

Wilson is a 2-year-old boy, he came to shelter as a stray with a URI (cat cold) and a scab on his neck—from possible flea allergy. He’s fully healed and now healthy, sweet, and gentle. Ready for his forever home—come meet Wilson ASAP at South LA Animal Shelter. 🚨 Moka IS LISTED FOR EUTHANASIA—SHE MUST BE SAVED BY FRIDAY, JUNE 26 by 4PM. Moka is a 2-year-old, 7-pound female Seal Point Siamese at the South Los Angeles Shelter. She was owner surrendered after the owner reported she bit someone—so the shelter has listed her as unsafe behavior, and she’s scheduled for euthanasia. Her owner surrender notes say she can be quiet, fearful, and calm—but if she’s bothered, she may become defensive. She follows her people and is friendly, but she needs respect and space. Moka is not spayed yet, and she came from an indoor/outdoor home—stress can make reactivity worse. She needs a long-term, patient foster who can help her decompress. male, black and white American Staffordshire Terrier Mix, 1 yr, 1 mo, 90lbs - jet black in the sunlight and black-brown in the shade.

💔 JUST A BABY 💔 only 1 year old and has been waiting at South Shelter since 3/18.

He is available for New Hope or qualified 501(c) (3) rescue only with a signed behavior disclosure.

He's so black that black dogs are easily missed in the kennels. A black dog can be sitting right at the front of the kennel, and people think it's empty.

Always take a second look. Sometimes a loving dog like SHAROL is waiting inside.

Sharol has completely stolen my heart😭

Through the kennel bars, I put my finger out and he gently nuzzled it, just wanting a little affection.
Those quiet moments are the Sharol I hope people will see.

Today LA Animal Services designated Dubai
( ) 🚨🆘 R4-Rescue Only with euthanasia scheduled for 6/28.🆘🚨

R4 is reserved under the Department's own At-Risk Dog Protocol for dogs displaying persistent offensive aggression.

It explicitly excludes fear-based, defensive behavior behind a barrier. Every negative incident in Dubai's record occurred at his kennel door.

The Department is not applying its own policy. This was filmed today.

Rescues: he needs a pull by 6/27.

This is how shelter playgroup can save lives.
Meet Heinz

This strikingly handsome Shepherd came to the South LA shelter as a stray dog on May 27th.

Extremely scared and confused, Heinz was difficult to handle at that time, preventing shelter staff from administering vaccines due to his growling, rolling, and snarling. The next day, brought Hines out for an assessment. He was wary of handling and panicked with leash pressure, consistently flailing on leash and often biting the leash. In the play yard with other dogs, Heinz was "completely shut down."

Even after he moved to a side yard with just one low energy female, Heinz stayed completely frozen in a corner. But just look at this good boy three weeks later. With every outing from his kennel, H has been improving. He received vaccines, started to show bouts of play in playgroup, and recently even accepted a bath with some coaxing from the shelter groomer who reported that Heinz displayed "a little nervousness" and was slow to open up but
"willing to be friends."

If this sweet boy can show this much progress at the shelter, imagine how much he would thrive in a supportive home environment with a knowledgeable owner to help him continue building confidence.

🆘🚨MEDICALLY ALERTED! 1 YEAR OLD
JAMESON NEEDS OUT BY TODAY 6/24 at 4PM! 🚨🆘

Jameson is still a baby and already out of time. 💔
He's estimated to be about 1 year old and was picked up as a stray last week with a fractured right humerus. He's a little guy weighing only 36 pounds.

We were able to meet him over the weekend and he was very sweet! He was a little shy at first, but warmed up quickly. When he wasn't sniffing around the yard, he'd come sit near us and get lots of pets. We hope Jameson's story doesn't end at the shelter.

JAMESON is 🚨 MEDICALLY ALERTED & DEADLINED🚨 because of his fractured humerus. He needs out by WEDNESDAY 6/24 at 4PM.

He's available for adoption or rescue. He needs someone who is able to get him the medical care he needs for his leg.
