Wags and Walks

Wags and Walks Wags and Walks is a non-profit organization whose primary mission to match people with dogs that need a home and to save dogs lives on death row.

Wags and Walks is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a dedicated community of dog lovers working to reduce euthanasia in local shelters and increase awareness of rescue dogs being wonderful pets. Many people are looking (or know someone looking) for a new dog. This can be a very time consuming and frustrating process. After filling out an application, we will meet with you to understand your n

eeds and exactly what you are looking for. We then contact and work with our network of rescue organizations, shelters and individuals, until we locate the PERFECT dog for you. You would be shocked to KNOW THAT YOU CAN FIND ANY BREED and ANY AGE DOG at the shelter. People with good intentions buy Saint Bernards, Boxers, German Shepherds, Bulldogs, Cocker Spaniels, Chows, Poodles, Pit Bulls, and Golden Retrievers, etc., but find that they can't take care of them due to life changes such as finances, moving, medical problems, or arrival of a new baby. With our experience and expertise, we are confident that we will be able to match you with your dream dog. We can also provide many helpful resources once you bring your new love home!

After 8 years of neglect, adoptable Midge finally feels safe. Now all she needs is a loving forever family.

This 29-lb mixed breed gal was found collapsed in the street, so emaciated she couldn’t even stand. It appeared she had been bred multiple times in her life, and once her body could give no more, she was abandoned. An animal control officer found her and cared for her, helping her begin her recovery before she eventually made her way to us.

Despite everything she’s been through, Midge is an incredibly loving girl who simply wants to be close to her people. She has the softest, most soulful eyes and a way of looking at you that feels like pure love. She enjoys leisurely walks where she can take in the world around her and is great on leash. Midge is close to mastering potty training and does great in her crate. She has a medium energy level with occasional bursts of playful s***k as she continues to regain her strength and confidence.

She will thrive in a safe home that can continue supporting her as she grows stronger and enjoys the life she’s always deserved. If you're looking for a gentle, devoted companion with so much affection to give, Midge might be your perfect match.

After giving birth to two beautiful puppies, adoptable Gumball is finally relaxing in style in her foster home.

This 1-year-old, 50-lb mixed-breed gal is a smart, affectionate pup. When we rescued Gumball from an overcrowded shelter, she was pregnant and gave birth shortly after arriving at our rescue. Both of her puppies have since been adopted, and now, it's Gumball's turn to find her happily ever after.

This adorable girl loves people and gets the wiggles every time she meets someone new. Gumball enjoys sunbathing, going for walks, and snuggling on the couch with her people. This smart girl is working to master her basics and learning quickly with the help of some delicious treats. She is perfecting her leash manners and already knows several commands.

This sweet mama will thrive in a forever home where she can continue learning with adopters who will give her all the love she deserves. If you’re looking for an affectionate, wiggly best friend, Gumball could be your girl!

Update: ADOPTED!

10-week-old Molly is a sweet, snuggly, and playful little puppy. She is also completely deaf.

Molly is a member of the Magic School Bus litter, and was born one day before coming into our care. Her mama, Ms. Frizzle, was adopted from a shelter a few months prior. However, neither the shelter nor her adopter realized that she was pregnant. When the puppies came, they needed more care than her owner was able to provide. Thankfully, he reached out to our team, and we were able to step in and help.

When Molly went to her first foster home, her fosters noticed that she seemed a little different than the other puppies they had fostered before. It didn’t take long to figure out that she was deaf. Since learning this about Molly, her fosters have taken special care to wake her gently every time they find her sleeping somewhere.

Now, Molly is ready to find a forever home where she will be loved for exactly who she is. She is the sweetest and most loving girl. She will need adopters willing to go the extra mile to learn how to communicate her way.

At just 10 months old, Fairy has suffered injuries so severe that she is unable to open her mouth. We urgently need your help to raise the funds for Fairy’s life-changing surgery.

Fairy was found as a stray and brought to a crowded shelter. From the moment the shelter staff laid eyes on her, it was clear something was wrong. Her entire jaw was misaligned, and she couldn’t open her mouth more than an inch. She wouldn’t have survived much longer in the shelter, so we knew we had to help.

When we took Fairy in, she got a quick exam with our medical team before heading right to the vet. Sadly, our worst fears were confirmed. X-rays showed that Fairy has two severe breaks in her facial bones: one in her left cheekbone and the other in her lower jaw. Even worse, it is likely that her injuries were the result of physical abuse.

Unfortunately, her X-rays didn’t give us a clear enough picture of the damage. We know she will need surgery, but we won’t be able to move forward without a $4,500 CT scan.

Right now, Fairy is struggling to eat and she is at risk of developing aspiration Pneumonia. The longer we have to wait, the more at-risk she becomes of developing other life-threatening complications. Fairy needs urgent intervention, and every second counts. We need your help to raise the funds for her CT scan and the care that will come after.

Fairy has likely known heartbreaking cruelty in her short life thus far, but her heart remains full of nothing but love. She is sweet, gentle, and affectionate. She deserves a life full of joy and happiness, but we can’t give her a pain-free future without your support.

On National Rescue Dog Day, it’s more important than ever to give dogs like Fairy the chances at happiness that they’ve been waiting for.

After surviving unthinkable trauma, Balboa is finally healthy and home.

When French Bulldog Balboa came into our care at the end of 2025, our hearts broke. This sweet boy was covered in infected skin from untreated wounds and severely ulcerated eyes. Based on his injuries, our medical team believed he had been used as a bait dog in a dogfighting ring. Dogs like Balboa with such extensive medical needs rarely make it out of shelters alive. Thankfully, we were able to give this sweet boy a second chance.

Over the next several months, Balboa received ongoing medical care as his body healed. His eyes were recovering slowly, and there was a chance that both of them would need to be removed. However, he eventually began making progress, and before long, we were able to give Balboa a clean bill of health.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to restore much of Balboa’s vision, but we were able to give him a forever home where he is loved for who he is. After almost 6 months in our care, Balboa has been adopted by his fosters. We couldn’t be happier for this incredibly special boy.

Because of our monthly Pup Club donors, we were able to give Balboa the care he needed. By joining Pup Club, you can help us save the next Balboa.

3-year-old Rudy has been waiting for 6 months to meet his forever people, with no end in sight. Black dogs are constantly overlooked in shelters due to no fault of their own. Superstitions, folklore, and pop culture often depict black dogs as bad omens, menacing, dangerous, and evil. This creates a negative stereotype that many potential adopters carry with them into shelters when looking to adopt a dog. Black dogs tend to wait 3-4x longer to be adopted than other dogs, and they are often at a greater risk of being euthanized as a result.

This portrayal of black dogs isn’t just unfair, it’s dangerous. So every time we rescue a black dog from the shelter, it carries a bit of extra weight. However, black dogs don’t just wait longer for adopters in shelters; they wait longer for adopters with us, too. Although they are safe in our care and not at risk of being euthanized, these good boys and girls are all still waiting for homes of their own…and they’ve been waiting for FAR too long.
