Thank you EVERYONE for caring about King! For sharing and pledging and believing in this sweet boy! He will now get the care, love and support he needs. After almost 2 years in the shelter and two failed adoption attempts, he will need time and professional help to recover from the anxiety he has developed over the course of time. As this is a long post, here is his story and timeline in short:
11/07/2021 Owner surrender to West Valley shelter, it is assumed that King spent the first 4 years of his life as a yard dog.
06/27/2023 Adopted
07/11/2023 Returned to shelter, King was unable to adapt that quickly.
07/18/2023 I visit King at the shelter and he won me over quickly, I take a video and pictures with the help of a volunteer and learn about his story. I share him on Instagram and later on Facebook in the hopes he will be seen and saved.
09/26/2023 Adopted for the 2nd time
10/20/2023 Returned, one of the amazing volunteers of West Valley shelter fosters him temporarily, we fear that he will be added to red list, if taken back to the shelter.
10/27/2023 Rescued by Angels Bark Dog Rescue 💞 King is safe now and will be provided with the care and help he needs!

Update 10/20/2023: Returned!! Not at the shelter yet, Volunteer is holding for a few days. Unfortunately King was adopted by a person for another person. King was returned today, which I have been afraid of since the time I first talked to the adopter (after the adoption was already done). I was even hesitant to update his post to „adopted" a month ago. 💔 So sorry Sweet Boy, you deserve so much better!!!
My heart is breaking for King! November 07, 2023 will be his 2 year shelter anniversary! 😢 So often we are heartbroken over the dogs that get Euth listed, but what about dogs like King, who slowly fade away? He has lost weight, the constant noise, the harsh shelter conditions take a toll! King is a typical white German Shepherd, he is shy and timid with strangers, he won't come to the kennel bars to interact with visitors. This beautiful WGSD doesn't show well in kennel and has been overlooked for so long! He is very friendly and loving with the people he knows, dog jail has become his home. 😭💔
King White German Shepherd neutered male for adoption. King is timid with strangers, but loving and loyal with people he knows. He is the kind of dog that will watch you and follow you everywhere you go. King is waiting for you to come and have patience with him until he trusts you! King was previously adopted (from 6/27/2023-07/11/2023), but he wasn’t able to adapt that quickly and was overwhelmed by the 3 other dogs in the house. He was returned because he didn’t get along with the other dogs during this week. Volunteers describe him as a kind, well-behaved, mild-mannered dog who is non-reactive to other dogs in the shelter. King has spent 1/3 of his life at the shelter.
