What is going on with a “stubborn” dog?

Our dogs are doing what they know best, so when we feel the urge to label a dog as stubborn it’s important to take a moment to acknowledge our frustration and/or disappointment. Once we clear our head we can rework our training plan. Ask yourself: “How can I make this task easier for my dog?” “What building blocks are we missing?”

The most effective training requires thoughtful plans, patience, and a willingness to reassess when our dog is struggling.
