He dun did got inda box! Whew!!

As it had for the past few mornings, texts start coming in about our boys location. He had moved again. Seven tenths of a mile as the crow flies even close to insane traffic from a college and a freeway as well. Also nearby are railroad tracks which allow unencumbered travel if you're a dog.

None of this was good news.

This kid is smart! He found a corner well beyond the reach of people, where he could see, hear and smell anything coming towards him. That six foot block wall behind him is an easy jump had he been cornered and pressured.

Having many choices can suck... I could sneak up while he sleeps and snare him, have the fosters daughter attempt to lure and loop him, stand at the ready with a net or grab a second trap off the truck. When as many options are on the table, your brain grinds the gears everytime you're nearing a decision. If it doesn't work one part of my mind will always tell me I should've done the other thing.. No need for self inflicted black eyes!!

I made the call to have .y.n.a.e give it a try again. She had hand fed him once before, but couldn't seal the deal at that time. Her energy was good. Tail tucked, he got up and closed the distance but was nervous of me.. apparently he heard I'm the king of dirty tricks and cant be trusted until after your cell door slams.

Clarity always sets in then

At this point, I saw what I needed to see and shifted gears. In comes the trap. Because he trusted her more than me, I baited it, and got well out of sight. I had Rynae drop pieces of chicken in one after another after another etc, then I pulled her back. He had been watching her the whole time. By the time she got to her mom's car, he was already moving towards the trap.. slow and defeated he entered. Slam!!

That sound is the best when you know this difficult and scared dog is now safe.

Transferring him from trap to crate in the home went at his pace. Once he laid down he softened. At that moment you could see it on his face.. he knew he was ok.

Slide 2: Wrong.....dog? Don't play dead in the restaurant, it won't project the right vibe for our expected guest of honor.

And Venus was her name-o

In this case, the planets aligned!

First things first, when a dog gets loose, pump the brakes. We're wired to take immediate action. We simply react with movement. Things will fall in place soon enough, but that's our reaction, based on our emotions. Aka...panic. Pump the brakes!!

If a dog is scared, or skittish by nature, the worst thing you can do is pursue or gather people for a search party. These actions are innocent, but at best, they cause delays.

This little stargazer ran up cactus laden hillsides effortlessly. She covered ground quickly and unfortunately learned that life in the desert isn't the same as city life. Here, it's busy, it's crazy, it's pure chaos. Numerous times she crossed streets or was seen in lanes. Combine that with wildlife like yotes and rattlesnakes, very little water and likely no food and you can guess how her week went. The sprinkles on top were...yep.. getting chased.

She had almost made a complete 2 mile loop, we were just missing the proof that she closed the loop. We'll, that news came when someone reported seeing her back in front of the gates in front of a hole in the bushes. Another sighting came in, same basic place but ran to the left. Another, she made it inside the gates but was on a hillside again. Trap was set, but it didn't feel right. Upon her ducking into bushes, we had walked the outside of a cul-de-sac 1, 2 ,3. I figured this was the center of her pendulum arc. Today we pulled the trap and shifted to that location. The neighborhood announcer puppy barked at everything that crossed HIS world. He was barking at something behind his house. Thanks buddy, now be quiet!

Labs and Friends did a phenomenal job at promptly relaying sighting info as well as having two volunteers, Ryan and Sandi, on the ground who listened and added tremendous value. Each of them as well as Paula, a woman dedicated to helping local loose pups at a moments notice, were truly unbelievable with all they gave to ensure her safe recovery. Ryan had even committed to cancelling his vacation tomorrow had we not been successful tonight.

Rest easy team and you too Miss Venus. We got you girl, life will slow soon!

a little dog math. ME vs SHE AND I vs THEM could equal US or WE

First.. the two pups who had been running along Temescal Canyon for upwards of six weeks have been safely captured. They are soft and sweet but understandably scared.

During this time good sams had been trying to catch them and leaving food all along this road constantly traveled by trucks as well as cars running at high speed.

While efforts are appreciated, two dogs can be more than twice as hard to catch than one.

Know when to stop and seek help. Help doesn't mean 50 of your best friends, help means people with a track record of getting it done.

Saving dogs is not a competition.

Gail, a local trapper had reached out for a second opinion. After what she had described, we felt we should collaborate so as to offer the best chance to safely capture both at the same time.

Sometimes it's just a shift in thinking offered by a fresh set of eyes and sometimes it comes down to equipment.

She focused on conditioning them to a new area and sent me videos from the cameras. People found the cameras and actually moved them so it wouldn't capture what they were doing.

Funny thing about cameras.. sometimes cameras are set to monitor the cameras.. it's appalling the things muttered under ones breath as they try to sabotage someone else's efforts for the sake of their own ego. For those caught on camera number two and three, your ego put those dogs life at risk.

Gail you rock. Your persistence and every ounce of effort kept these two from getting killed out on that road.

Collaboration is key!

Missing since 4-1 with a few sightings since.

Laura, another local trapper, has been guiding and heading out on sightings since the beginning.

We're hoping combining efforts and refining a few things may be just whats needed to help this lil girl get home.

At this point, she will be especially flighty, so all we ask is that if seen, make a note as to the time, location, and direction of travel and immediately call the number on the flyer.

Please, DO NOT FOLLOW or try to get close or engage her in any way. A scared dog doesnt typically navigate the world too well, and we don't need to apply more pressure to her.

Please share this post to family or friends in the area. There have been numerous posts by several people which has made it difficult to manage. If posts are shared, all updates from here will propagate their way through the shares.

Her Dad needs her home asap.

In the hearts of Daisy's family, every day since Easter was a grind which felt eternal. Being 3 hours away and no news coming in tears at you. It makes you lose hope. How can a little dog survive? Knowing they're alone, unprepared or inexperienced for the wild world, predators, cars, other dogs? These questions arise all the time and I wonder how my answers land sometimes.

Never EVER count a dog out of the fight! There are no gaurantees, and we all know that tragedy strikes. But if we have no control, we have to have faith in a process no matter how foreign it may feel.

Prior to my involvement, Daisy's dad handed out and posted flyers like a madman. Mom took over with a simplified version and spread out ahead of the last sightings.

When you're driving through an area heading to a family event, you don't focus on how big an area is. Once you have reason to, it's beyond overwhelming. Your one job is flyering, period, don't talk to people, you don't have time. In the time it takes to go from "sorry to hear your dog is lost, to I'll keep an eye out, more intersections can be covered which translates into thousands more impressions and helping eyes.

Mom was gutted, mom listened, mom put it in low gear and did it! The end of the weekend loomed and no calls. I told her how after a flurry of effort, people are slow to pick up on things, but Mon/Tue, I'll bet the calls come in.

Monday arrived, calls came one after another followed by pics and video. Mom texts, I'm on my way!!

Do this, not that, filled her to overflowing. Between the preparation and this mom just being herself, next thing ya know I'm getting pics of Daisy handling all the dirty spots on mom's cheek!

The pic of her absolutely relieved in her bed.. Pretty sure everyone will sleep better tonight!

A call came in last night about this young little one.. The caller had spent quite a bit of time alongside some others who were concerned about her. We agree that she'd go to the park again this morning and if there, sit with her and manage the people who may be trying to help while the hour ticked by until I could get there.

Sure enough, she was still there. We discussed a little bit of the strategy as I carried the trap and she helped with the other necessary tools.

A guy had spent his morning with her and his dog also trying to help.

I love it when good sams have the natural ability and soft energy combined with the ability to absorb direction and apply it perfectly.

The plan was to use one dog to do a drive by on the baited trap, but she was less interested in food and far more inclined to inspect her brain as her tired eyes rolled back and hit the garage door button that closed her heavy lids.

I decided rather than wait for her nap to be over, I'd sneak up and place my sliplead cable over her and just get 'er done. Well, she woke up out of her dreams of a vacation in Belize to be staring at me, unable to run. She very quickly softened and into the trap she went for transport.

Hopefully there's a story and an owner relieved that she's found and unharmed, but if not, this little sweetheart would love a nice couch of her own and some new friends.

To Margarita and Sam, you guys rock! Thank you!

Please share to help find her owners, and to rescues as well.

Stop, push the "paws" button for a moment and be present with, and for them.

Allow moments like this to overtake and interrupt.

Our time with them is short.

When the day comes to hang their collar on the bridge, I hope you're flooded with the feelings from these memories, because of the time you carved out and shared.

Fight the rush, and fill up.

Today's clouds.. brought to you by all the beds C**t has ever destroyed. He says, "you're welcome."

Meet Daisy. She went to Bakersfield with her family to see the Easter Bunny. She decided to prove that bunnies weren't the only ones who could hop, and over the fence she went.

Only brief poses in front of neighborhood security cameras were captured until calls came in later seeing her nearly 3 miles away.

Daisy is skittish on a good day and will run. Do not approach, or follow with a car as this can only amplify the fear in her little mind. Just call the number on the flyer.

This girl is loved and missed dearly. Her family needs your help in sharing to locals, keeping an eye out for posts so we can zero in on her and pack her up in that suitcase to go home!

Where's Waldo? Or is it Peanut?

Poor lil dude was just a lil scurred.. fresh out, heading to his new beginning when a mishap occurred. He decided he needed a dogs tour of Hollywood, but quickly realized it wasn't quite what he thought it was going to be like.

After being seen in a park, he sprayed himself with clear lacquer and became completely invisible, or so we thought.

As is the case sometimes, I received a text last night from DogDaysSAR asking if I was in the Hollywood area by chance. It took all of three seconds to realize they'd been contacted as well.

Someone observed him ducking up a driveway and it was discovered that he had found a tight little gap between a couple of buildings and a broken down fence. What he didn't realize, was that this super tight space, had a little skinny wrought iron gate that was used to close him in for the night.

After some discussions involving other trappers, it worked out that I could clear my schedule and get there the soonest.

Having the right tools definitely helps! I think even allowing Peanut to take a brief break a couple times on his way out, it was still secured to moved into a trap for transport in under 3 minutes.

This kid was smart. He quickly figured out how to keep himself safe. Watching him with the boarding facility employee I could see the tail tuck while being touched, but loosen once in motion to the turf. He's gonna be good, he just needs a minute..

WHEW!!! This dog clearly stayed in school!

From gut pain, to some hope based upon a photo, to confirmation that his owners previous landlords have him secured.... bam, bam, bam.. what a morning they must have had.

Quite the ride from this side for sure!

Lil Dewey is safe and getting his feetsies massaged at the vet. Pads got a bit torn up from him showing off his navigation skills and speed!

Whoever took that moment to take and post the photo on ring, thank you. It's often the little things that make the biggest difference.
