OUR SHELVES ARE LOADING UP AGAIN, BUT OUR FUNDS ARE TIGHT. WE NEED YOUR HELP!

⚠️Right now, the Community Pet Food Bank of Horry County has the opportunity to secure approximately 800 lbs of dry dog food to keep our local pups fed. But getting the food to our shelves isn't free.Over the last 3 months alone, we have paid out approximately $480 in freight costs just to transport donated food. This is on top of our regular monthly overhead expenses of $520 a month to keep our doors open.

As a small, community-funded organization, these extra shipping fees are stretching our budget to the absolute limit. We need financial donations today to help cover these freight costs so we can keep feeding the pets of Horry County. Even a small gift goes a massive way:💵 $10 helps us transport a massive bulk of food.💵 $25 keeps our lights on and pays our rent.

👉 Please donate today to keep our community bowls full:

Check/Money Order: Made out to Tracy Vogel/Community Pet Food Bank and please note "Pet Food Freight" or "General Funds" in your memo!)
We cannot do this vital work without your generosity.

Thank you for helping us keep pets fed and families together! 🐶!

Feral Cats

We have always received many request for people to trap and surrender feral cats. But there are a few things you should know before you decide to catch feral cats and remove them all. Removing feral cats more often than not leads to more cats taking their place, a well-documented phenomenon known as the "vacuum effect". When cats are removed or euthanized, the available food and shelter attract new cats from surrounding areas, causing the population to rebound quickly. Those cats may be a bigger nuisance than the ones you currently have. The new cats will also not be spayed or neutered so you are going to end up with 50 cats/kitten when you only had a few before. It will be a vicious cycle that will never end. If you get the current cats spayed and neutered and allow them to be there new colonies will not move in. If you do not want them around your home do NOT feed them, have food out or throw your scraps in the yard, that attracts them.

Horry County Animal Care Center now offers free spay & neuter for feral cats. Please send them an e-mail and ask for an application.
