I spent 30 minutes with Dolly, here are my favorite 30 seconds 🎶

Dolly is a 12-year-old retired hunting hound who's ready for a comfy life with a family to love and adventures to share. She's a loving, goofy girl with plenty to say, and no fear to say it straight to your face. This affectionate girl still goes crazy for squirrels, squeeky toys, and butt scratches. She even went on a 4-day sleepover recently, find more about it on our page!

Dolly needs a home with children over 10 who understand she won't share her food anymore (a cheese stick incident was involved). She's approved to live with other dogs after a meet and greet, but no cats, please.

Dolly is a unique companion who is anything but shy. We know there are hound dog lovers out there, we're just wondering where ☹️

Know what to do when a pet needs help! 🐾

Teens ages 14+ can sign up for our FREE Pet First Aid & CPR training this Friday, October 16, hosted here at the Longmont Humane Society from 1 to 7pm. Learn hands-on skills that could make all the difference in an emergency, and earn your PetSaver certification.

Waffles has had a lot of people in his corner these past six months, and now he’s looking for a family who will keep cheering him on. ❤️

When Waffles arrived at Longmont Humane Society on April 3, his high energy and fear of unfamiliar people made life a little complicated. He was undersocialized, fearful of new people and places, and reactive behind kennel barriers, and with a bite history on his record, we knew finding the right home would take more than a quick introduction on the adoption floor. Our Training & Behavior team took the time to get to know him, understand his needs, and build a plan to help him succeed before he moved to the adoption floor and started meeting potential adopters at the end of May.

Today, this two-year-old enjoys walks, playtime with staff and volunteers, and catching up with his favorite training-team besties. He’s still learning to navigate a world that can feel overwhelming, but he’s made progress with people who understand him and know how to work with him.

Waffles is looking for a home without cats, with a dog meet for any potential canine siblings, and with kids over 14. He’s ready to find a family who will get to know his quirks, appreciate his progress, and help him keep building confidence.

Getting dogs ready for their next chapter takes time, skill, and plenty of positive reinforcement. Right now, our Training & Behavior team is running low on high-value treats and peanut butter, two essentials for their training sessions. Milk-Bones are always a favorite, but sometimes a little extra motivation goes a long way. Both treats and peanut butter are marked highest priority on our Amazon Wishlist, so you can help support the team behind Waffles and so many other dogs that you haven't even met yet.

Dolly's four-day sleepover résumé includes scenic walks, pumpkin patch exploring, paying a fellow Dolly respect, and absolutely no time for her personal trainee's rest breaks. 😛

Our 12-year-old hound girl mix returned from a four-day Sleepover Rendezvous Adventure where she got some well-deserved time outside the shelter. Let the record reflect that every time they sat down to relax, Dolly was the one back up and ready for the next activity. Retirement looks a little different when you're Dolly, apparently. She's also a professional communicator, so prospective adopters should be prepared for a girl who has a lot on her mind, a lovely voice, and zero stage-fright. Dolly Parton would be so proud ❤️

Our Dolly girl is house-trained, walks okay on leash but has some reactivity, and has been waiting for her forever home since July 15th. Dolly will do best with kids over 10. She's been okay with other dogs, though she'll need a dog meet before adoption. She hasn't been tested with cats, however a cat test at the shelter can be conducted.

If your idea of a good day includes getting outside then getting a nap in, having a companion with opinions, and making room in your heart and home for a senior girl with plenty of life left to live, Dolly might be yours. She's ready for her next adventure, preferably the one that lasts a lifetime. ❤️

Turns out, a little grey and a wise demeanor can be misleading. Give these guys a chance, whether they’re one, three, six, or a little older... and hey, look at our seniors again while you're at it ❤️
