A little extra care can make a big difference!

The Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation recently funded professional shearing services for sheep in our care who were desperately in need of grooming. The shearing helped improve their comfort, health, and overall well-being.

Sometimes stories have the happiest surprises!

A Miniature Pinscher rescued by Internet Miniature Pinscher Rescue (IMP) found a loving foster home, where his foster family decided to do an Embark DNA test. They discovered he had a brother who had also been through Downey Animal Care Center.

The rescue connected with the brother's adopters, and the two siblings were recently reunited for a special play date.

For every lost, stray, or surrendered animal in Los Angeles County, the animal care center is a safety net, a second chance, and sometimes the only one they have. The Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation exists to strengthen that net, funding spay and neuter services, adoptions, medical care, and the programs that help animals find their way home or into loving families.

This August is Make-A-Will Month, and we wanted to share something useful with you. Through FreeWill, you can create a legal will online in about 20 minutes, at no cost. It is a practical way to protect the people, and the animals, you love and to put your own values on the record.

Strawberry is safe, healthy, and doing well.

After arriving during a seizure intake, this three-year-old Retriever/Spaniel mix was transferred to Downey Animal Care Center, where staff made space to help care for animals from the case.

Asher’s story began with a hard goodbye.

For 56 years, NACo's Achievement Awards have recognized outstanding county programs that improve services and enhance quality of life for residents. We are proud that Vet@ThePark has been recognized as a model program making a difference for pets and families across Los Angeles County.
