Underdogs Long Beach uses scientifically proven, positive reinforcement techniques for both dogs and humans. Whether you are dealing with reactivity or aggression, everyday frustration like barking, jumping, mouthing, or house training, or you simply want to build strong foundations for a new puppy or rescue, there is a better way to get it under control. -Private sessions in person and online for personalized support and behavior work.
-Puppy Board and Train programs that give young pups the foundations they need for life.
-Online courses that help you prepare for a new foster or rescue, start your puppy off right, or learn practical skills at a lower cost.
-Education and coaching for barky or lungy dogs, newly adopted dogs, and family companions who need a clearer training plan. Our goal is to help every dog feel safe, confident, and understood while strengthening the bond between dogs and the people who love them.

Think about it... ⬇️

They’ve been inside all day with the same smells, sounds, and routine… and then the door opens. 🌎

Outside is exciting. Overwhelming. And for our barky-lungy dogs, sometimes scary.

So we don’t just walk out the door and expect them to suddenly know how to walk nicely, listen, and ignore everything around them.

We teach the skills inside first, where their brain can actually learn. Then we slowly take those skills into the real world.

Everyone wants the café dog. Few people see what comes first.

Every foster starts as a complete stranger in my home.

I have my own dogs, a cat, a business, and no clue who this new dog really is until we live together. That's why I don't "just see what happens." I use management. Pens. Crates. Gates. I set everyone up to succeed while I learn who the dog in front of me really is.

This sweet guy? He's made my job easy.

He's not a fit for my cat—and that's okay. (Because honestly... I would've kept him. Seriously.)

Good management keeps everyone safe.

But he's also settled calmly into cafés (this was his first one!), busy neighborhoods, walks, city living, and other dogs like he hadn't spent his short life in shelters being shuffled from place to place.

As a trainer, fostering is one of my favorite things. I get to help dogs decompress, feel safe, and show the world who they really are.

It's an even bigger bonus when I get one like this.

Now let's find him the family he deserves.
