Can dogs eat corn on the cob or hot dogs at your Labor Day BBQ?

Quick answer: no! Bones splinter, corn cobs cause blockages, and chocolate/xylitol are toxic. Keep pet-friendly treats on hand instead.

A few other things to keep in mind: alcohol and soda are off-limits, fresh water + shade beat the heat, supervise pool time (not every dog's a strong swimmer), set up a quiet space for fireworks-sensitive pets, and clear the yard of citronella candles, bug spray, and skewers.

A little prep = a fun, stress-free weekend for everyone!

🎉🐾 **ONE YEAR OF CITYVET LONE TREE!**🐾🎉

Today we celebrated ONE YEAR OPEN the best way we knew how… with a little friendly competition! 😏🏆

What a year it has been. We’ve grown, learned, laughed, faced challenges, celebrated wins, cared for some pretty incredible pets, and built a team we’re proud to be part of. ❤️

A huge THANK YOU to Rocky Mountain Tanks for hosting us today and giving our crew the perfect way to celebrate this milestone! We had an absolute blast!

Most importantly, thank you to our amazing clients and community for trusting us with your pets and supporting us throughout our very first year. We wouldn’t be here without you.

Here’s to Year TWO and everything still to come!

Why does my dog snore? 🐾💤

Short answer: snoring happens when airflow gets partially blocked in your dog's nose or throat during sleep, causing tissue to vibrate. It's usually harmless — but not always.

Common causes:
Breed: flat-faced dogs like Pugs, Bulldogs & Boxers snore more due to shorter airways
Sleep position: snoozing on their back can block airflow
Weight & age: extra fat or looser throat muscles narrow the airway
Allergies: dust, pollen & smoke can irritate nasal passages
Medical issues: infections, respiratory problems, or sleep apnea

When to worry: sudden/louder snoring, labored breathing while awake, or snoring + coughing, discharge, or appetite changes.

Not sure if it's normal? Book a visit, and we'll help you (and your pup) sleep easy.

Those tiny teeth hurt more than they have any right to.

If your kitten is ambushing your ankles, they're not being mean — they're being a kitten.
Keep a wand toy within reach and swap it in the second they go for your hand. When play gets rough, stop and walk away — they learn fast that teeth end the fun. And watch for the tells that they're overstimulated: tail flicking, ears back, pupils blown wide. That's your cue to take a break.

If biting starts suddenly or only when you touch one spot, it could signal pain, and you should talk to your veterinarian.
