Shallow Hill is a full service English riding facility west of Columbus, Ohio that focuses on the relationship between horse and rider. We strive to create a low stress environment for students, boarders and our equine companions. We have something to offer regardless of age and experience level with riding horses. We maintain a diverse group of lesson horses appropriate for most ages and ability

levels. The focus is on a quiet environment where the focus is on building a solid foundation for riding in the English saddle.

Another day of storms.

We are looking for volunteers to help get the ponies out of their stalls and go for walks! Our big paddock has a tree on the power line that runs through it so I have closed off that paddock and the others are under water. Not sure when the electric crews will get to it given all the power outages in the area. Thankfully we have power! The arena is flooded as well (which is super rare with it being on a hill). With the forecast looking very rainy, the ponies will be stuck inside for at least the next week.

Another fantastic Happily Ever After Show!
Simon had 2 riders both trying something new! One tried her hand in the 2’ and crushed it with some really nice rounds, the other had her first show ever and was reserve champion in ground poles!
And don’t tell me you can’t teach old ponies new tricks because Spot and his rider tried out the puddle jumpers and came out on top as champion! Spot also took another rider to earn some great ribbons in large flat classes.
Baby Dips was one again a solid citizen earning champion.
Pirate also laid down some nice trips, and I’m giving a huge shout out to the amazing horsemanship his rider showed as he was very concerned about a lawnmower monster on the outside of the arena.

My Dear Lil Tums

As a kitten she was rejected because she had too much energy for indoors and was passed around until she found us. I knew the moment she came out of her carrier into a group of my young students, she was something special.
She spent the years catching every mouse around, loudly greeting everyone and somehow convinced parents to turn their heated seats on for her in durning winter lessons.

The last few years she mostly resided in the garage (yes, heated cat house too) and developed skin cancer on her nose.

Today we took her pain away and said our final goodbye.

I just love how much the students worked on the trivia question this week!!! Several earning over 100 points!!
Lots of amazing rides and lessons this week.
Definitely warms the heart makes me appreciate this little barn family we have here. ❤️
