One of my favorite things to mount are fish because of the paints, pastels and powders used to recreate their beauty! I have some Large Mouth Bass coming up in the 7lb and 9lb class, and a couple of Rainbows coming up as well. This 7lb Rainbow came out of Convict Lake. My client wanted me to attach the lure she caught it with. I used floral wire for “fishing line” and the spring from a ball-point pen to recreate the “knot” on the line.

The new website, www.wildlife-arts.com is still in the works. My website team at GoDaddy is busy adding and creating my ideas as well as migrating all the algorithms and key words so that I do not lose my place on Google, Bing and the other search engines. The transition took a little longer than expected due to the holidays as I had hoped to be up and running by the 1st. Thank you for your patience!

A Christmas present for a client’s husband who’s grandfather harvested this whitetail about 35 years ago. They were laying around in the garage and thought they deserved to be appreciated! The antlers were mounted on a solid oak panel with a buckskin cover. He’s gonna be happy!

How I became a Taxidermist

I grew up hunting, fishing and trapping on our beautiful Central Coast. I remember quail hunting with Dad in fields and lemon groves in what is now the Fairview Shopping Center in Goleta. Fishing with Dad at Goleta Pier or the Santa Barbara Breakwater was another passion of ours, tagging along to climb down onto the rocks to retrieve mussels to use for bait. Trapping Figueroa Mountain I would run my trap line in the rain, mud and snow, pressed for time as the season was only 8 weeks long, opening Thanksgiving Day and closing on January 31st every year! If you’re like me, hunting and fishing isn't just a hobby, it's a passion. I got my start in taxidermy over 45 years ago. As a kid, I dabbled with mounting and painting the fish, birds, squirrels and eventually deer that Dad and I harvested. I loved the science and the art of it. From early on I started learning all I could and perfected my craft over the years. After long hours of hard work and practice, I opened my first taxidermy studio in Santa Barbara in 1975, moving it to Goleta then Buellton through the years, and finally settling in Lompoc in 1988. Today with hundreds of happy clients, rest assured your trophy is in good hands! I invite you to call me for an appointment to stop by or follow me on Facebook and Instagram. As your Taxidermist, I would like to share my love of hunting and fishing with you and help preserve your trophy.
