First, I would just like to go ahead and apologize for my potato-quality camera on my phone.. I apologize.. My camera lens is broken. Hopefully I will be getting a new phone soon! Of course as soon as this page gets up and going, I would be having technical difficulties 🤦‍♀️ lol

Anywho, if you can get past the subpar photo quality, I will be sharing some updates!

This male betta that i'm currently treating is a male dumbo/elephant ear who has what is commonly referred to as "pop-eye" (exophthalmia) in both eyes, but more noticeably in the right eye. Pressure behind the eye causes the eye to bulge and/or "pop" out of socket, which can be caused by injury, fluid build up, and infections behind the eyes. I rescued this guy just yesterday (2/11). I have treated pop eye in the past with success, but it can still be pretty nasty (depending on what is causing it). I am concerned that he has already lost his vision in his right eye, as he shows no reaction to movement in his right side peripherals. Hopefully that is not a permanent problem, but even if it is, only time will tell. Despite his eyes, it didn't take him long to show that he has a very curious personality and hasn't been afraid to approach me! Fingers crossed for his treatment! 🤞

I have taken in 4 rescues this week, which has put me at capacity until I can adopt some bettas out to new homes! If you are in California (Santa Barbara county, or willing to drive to pick/meet up), and are open to welcoming a new betta friend into your home, I have multiple bettas that are ready and in search of their forever homes! Please keep in mind that there will be minimum tank requirements.I will be posting some individual posts for available bettas with more information soon. You are always free to message me in regards to adopting too!

Here is a positive update on the green and red (rose petal?) male betta that I had rescued and posted about earlier in the week!

(I had attempted to post an update about him yesterday (2/11). I typed it up, included a video, and hit "post".. only for the post to seemingly vanish into the abyss of Facebook and never be seen again! So umm i'm not sure what happened there. Maybe it was my phone, as i've been having some issues with it. Anyway, here is the updated officially posted post!)

Our green and red guy has perked up and, even though it's only been several days, he has been showing more strength and improvement each day. This video of him was recorded on the night of 2/10. I captured a quick video of him in a temporary holding cup, while I was performing a large water change on his hospital bin. He already has noticeable improvement in the fin rot on his fins and has willingly accepted flaked food, thawed blood worms, and live black worms! He is a cautiously curious dude that is learning quickly that food is very motivating 😆 😄

Yesterday I brought in these two male bettas.

The first red and green colored male was labeled as a rose petal male. Though, if he is a rose petal betta, you would never be able to identify that because of the nasty fin rot on his delicate fins 🙁

The second guy is a koi male (labeled at a Stars and Stripes male..he's clearly not.) also with apparent shock and fin rot. He was in really rough shape upon taking him in last night

Sadly, overnight the koi male betta did not make it and had passed away. Though i was a bit too late rescuing him, he did spend his final moments in clean warm water.
The red and green male is doing well so far, though he does still appear to be showing some signs of stress. I hope to be able to share a wonderful glow-up of him in the future, but for now, I will keep you all updated on his progress. Please send positive vibes for this guy! 💙

(I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has liked the page so far, I appreciate the support! Thank you!)

Hi everyone! My name is Emily. I just wanted to share that I have finally got this page up and running! I created this page so i can share rescue updates, information, and betta fish that will be in search of their forever homes!
I have been rescuing for a couple years now and have re-homed bettas mostly through personal friends/family and several betta groups. I would like to be more active in sharing tips/tricks/advice, education, and OF COURSE amazing betta recovery and rehoming stories with the online world and I look forward to sharing updates with you all! I appreciate the support! Let's help these bettas and break some stereotypes together! 😄
