🐶 Let’s talk about puppies 🐶 🩺

Bringing home a new puppy is exciting, but it also comes with an important responsibility: building a strong foundation for lifelong health.

At The Healthy Pet Vet at Logan Animal Clinic, we recommend starting puppy vaccinations as early as 6 weeks of age, with boosters every 3 to 4 weeks until your puppy is at least 16 weeks old. Following the recommended schedule is extremely important to help provide the best protection during those vulnerable early months.

Puppy wellness visits are also about much more than vaccines. We strongly recommend microscopic f***l testing because not all intestinal parasites or “worms” are visible to the naked eye. Many puppies can carry parasites without obvious signs at home. Early detection and treatment help protect both your puppy , other pets in the home and your family.

These visits also allow us to monitor growth and development, check for congenital abnormalities, evaluate teeth and bite alignment, examine ears and skin, and listen closely to the heart and lungs as your puppy grows.

One of our favorite parts of puppy visits is getting to know your new family member. Every visit gives our staff time to handle, love on, and bond with your puppy while helping them become comfortable with the veterinary office experience. Our goal is to create positive interactions early so your pet grows up recognizing our clinic as a safe and familiar place. 🐾

We are also proud to use a vaccine manufacturer that offers a built-in guarantee against certain diseases when puppies are vaccinated according to recommended guidelines, including proper starting age and booster intervals.

Preventative care now can make a lifetime of difference later. ❤️

This is happening to many veterinary clinics in and around our state. - it’s infuriating that we have to spend time dealing with this💩 while trying to help our patients and protect our clients-

We are sharing a post from another veterinary clinic in Ohio. This is an educational post about leptospirosis. The majority of our canine patients that we have seen since November 2024 have received the leptospirosis vaccination as it is considered a core vaccine and recommended for every canine patient we see. Please share to spread awareness as this can affect your human family members not just your family dog members.
The leptospirosis vaccine does not hold its efficacy for long lengths of time - so it is recommended that they receive a yearly Lepto vaccine after the initial vaccine series has been completed.
Many animal shelters, dog pounds, rescue groups and low cost vaccine clinics do not offer the Leptospirosis vaccine as it is costly for those organizations—- so please be aware of your dogs vaccination status - we are happy to assist you with a scheduled appointment and can determine from your previous veterinary records if your canine is protected. Ticks Don’t Read the Rulebook 🕷️

Think ticks only hide on ears, necks, or between toes? Think again.

These real photos show tiny deer ticks / black-legged ticks tucked away in places many pet owners would never think to check:
• Inside the roof of a cat’s mouth
• Around the anus/rear end area

Sneaky little freeloaders love dark, hidden spaces, which means your pet could have a tick and you may never see it.

That’s why prevention matters more than detective work.

We are diagnosing an astronomical number of tick borne diseases every day. Lyme Disease is by far the most common - we also are seeing Anaplasma and Ehrlichia in increasing numbers as well.

🐱 Cats: Protect with Revolution Plus
Helps prevent fleas, ticks, heartworm disease, ear mites, and treats common intestinal parasites.

🐶 Dogs: Protect with Credelio or Credelio Quattro
Powerful flea and tick protection, with Credelio Quattro also covering heartworm prevention and intestinal deworming.

🐾We offer other preventatives thru our online pharmacy .

💉We recommend and offer the Lyme Vaccine for our K9 patients.

🩺 Routine wellness visits and parasite testing are just as important. Some parasites stay invisible until they cause real trouble.

At The Healthy Pet Vet @ Logan Animal Clinic, we’d rather prevent the problem than go tick treasure hunting later.

📞 Call us today to get your pet protected and ask which prevention is best for their lifestyle.

Happy Veterinary Receptionist Week to the incredible front desk team at The Healthy Pet Vet at Logan Animal Clinic 🐾

These amazing humans do far more than answer phones and schedule appointments. They are information filters, calendar wizards, problem solvers, multitasking champions, and compassionate voices on the other end of the line when someone is worried about their pet and just needs someone to listen.

They are often the first smile our clients see when they walk in and the last kind face they see when they leave. They hand out treats, help process payments, keep the day running smoothly, and somehow juggle a hundred moving parts without missing a beat.

Whether it’s celebrating a new puppy visit, helping guide someone through a difficult goodbye, communicating between the front desk and medical team, stepping into exam rooms to lend a hand, comforting nervous pets, or staying late to help clean and organize, they are an essential part of everything we do.

Veterinary receptionists are the heartbeat at the front of the clinic and a vital part of our team. We see you, we appreciate you, and we are so thankful for all you do each and every day.

Please help us celebrate our wonderful reception team this week. They deserve all the love. 🐶🐱💙
