🐾 FLEAS & TICKS & MORE FLEAS… OH MY! 🪲😳

Fleas are out in FULL FORCE right now! And with them comes our friendly reminder about prescription flea and tick prevention.

💊 In order for us to dispense prescription flea and tick prevention, your pet must have a current veterinary exam within the past 365 days.

This is not a new rule and it is not something our clinic created. Ohio regulations require a valid Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) in order for a veterinarian to prescribe or dispense prescription medications.

And while staying compliant with state regulations is important, that yearly exam serves a much bigger purpose. ❤️

A lot can change with your pet in 365 days! A complete physical exam gives us the opportunity to check your pet from nose to tail and identify things like:

🐾 New lumps or bumps
🦷 Dental disease
❤️ Heart murmurs or abnormal rhythms
👂 Ear and skin problems
⚖️ Weight changes
🦴 Joint or mobility concerns
👀 Eye abnormalities
…and other changes that might otherwise go unnoticed for months or even years.

🪲 AND DON’T FORGET ABOUT TICKS!

Our prescription flea preventatives also provide tick protection, and ticks remain a significant concern for our pets. You may never even see the tick that exposes your pet to disease.

Not sure when your pet’s last exam was? No problem!

Give us a call and we’ll be happy to check your records and get you scheduled if you’re due.

Keep those pets protected. Fleas and ticks certainly aren’t taking the season off! 🐶🐱

LETS TALK ABOUT MUZZLES
A muzzle isn’t a sign that you have a bad dog—it’s a safety and preparation tool.
As pet owners, part of taking accountability for our pets is preparing them for situations they may encounter, including veterinary care.

Muzzle training at home, before your pet ever actually needs one, can make a huge difference. When a dog has already learned that wearing a muzzle is safe and normal, putting one on at the clinic doesn’t have to become another frightening new experience.

In the veterinary clinic, we may use a muzzle so we can safely distract or manage a pet long enough to complete an exam, draw blood, give an injection, trim nails, or perform another necessary procedure. Even a wonderful, loving dog can react differently when they’re scared, painful, stressed, or being handled by unfamiliar people.

Using a muzzle doesn’t label your dog as aggressive or ‘bad.’ It means we’re using an appropriate safety tool to protect your pet, the veterinary team, and everyone involved while getting your pet the care they need.

Don’t wait until the first stressful veterinary visit to introduce one. Muzzle training is preparation—not punishment.

🏆 BEST OF THE HOCKING HILLS — VOTING IS OPEN! 🐾

First, we want to say a sincere THANK YOU to everyone who nominated and has already voted for The Healthy Pet Vet at Logan Animal Clinic for this year’s Best of the Hocking Hills!

We were incredibly grateful to receive this recognition last year, and simply being nominated again means so much to our small practice. ❤️

Voting is open now through August 9, and if you feel compelled to vote for us, we would be honored and appreciative of your support.

Here is the link-

We also want to share something that is important to us.

We have chosen not to pay for nomination , votes or purchase advertising associated with the contest. Instead, we choose to put those dollars directly back into the animals and community we serve.

🐱 We use those resources to help make our low-cost cat spay & neuter clinics possible, addressing a very real need for affordable population control in our area.

🐾 We continue to offer discounted veterinary services to local 501(c)(3) rescue organizations, helping their dollars stretch further so they can continue saving animals in need.

For us, that is advertising money better spent.

Our greatest recognition will always be the trust you place in us when you walk through our doors with a member of your family.

So whether you cast a vote for us or simply continue to trust us with your pets, thank you. We are proud to be part of this community and even prouder to invest back into it. ❤️🐾

🐾 Thank You for Keeping Us Busy! 🐾

To our amazing clients,

We have been incredibly busy, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Every appointment, every phone call, every recommendation, and every kind word has helped our small, privately owned practice continue to grow. Thank you for trusting us with your pets. It is a privilege we never take for granted.

As a solo-doctor practice, we work hard each day to provide thoughtful, personalized care to every patient while doing our best to accommodate our current clients.

To help us serve you as efficiently as possible, we kindly ask for your help:

🐾 Please request prescription refills at least 24 hours in advance. This allows us adequate time to review your pet’s medical record, ensure monitoring is current, and prepare medications safely.

🐾 We are by appointment only. This helps us provide dedicated time for each patient while minimizing stress and wait times for both pets and their families.

While we always do our best to work in urgent concerns when medically appropriate, advance planning whenever possible allows us to care for everyone more effectively.

Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and your continued support of local, privately owned veterinary medicine. We know you have choices, and we are honored that you continue to choose The Healthy Pet Vet at Logan Animal Clinic.

We appreciate each and every one of you, and we look forward to caring for your pets for many years to come. ❤️🐾

🐶 Let’s talk about puppies 🐶 🩺

Bringing home a new puppy is exciting, but it also comes with an important responsibility: building a strong foundation for lifelong health.

At The Healthy Pet Vet at Logan Animal Clinic, we recommend starting puppy vaccinations as early as 6 weeks of age, with boosters every 3 to 4 weeks until your puppy is at least 16 weeks old. Following the recommended schedule is extremely important to help provide the best protection during those vulnerable early months.

Puppy wellness visits are also about much more than vaccines. We strongly recommend microscopic f***l testing because not all intestinal parasites or “worms” are visible to the naked eye. Many puppies can carry parasites without obvious signs at home. Early detection and treatment help protect both your puppy , other pets in the home and your family.

These visits also allow us to monitor growth and development, check for congenital abnormalities, evaluate teeth and bite alignment, examine ears and skin, and listen closely to the heart and lungs as your puppy grows.

One of our favorite parts of puppy visits is getting to know your new family member. Every visit gives our staff time to handle, love on, and bond with your puppy while helping them become comfortable with the veterinary office experience. Our goal is to create positive interactions early so your pet grows up recognizing our clinic as a safe and familiar place. 🐾

We are also proud to use a vaccine manufacturer that offers a built-in guarantee against certain diseases when puppies are vaccinated according to recommended guidelines, including proper starting age and booster intervals.

Preventative care now can make a lifetime of difference later. ❤️
