Meet Roman: A Sweet, Intuitive 4-Year-Old Giant Schnauzer Seeking His Forever Home
Located in Oak Point,Texas
Roman is a gorgeous, gentle, and incredibly perceptive 4-year-old Giant Schnauzer who is ready to find a loving new family. True to his breed, he is an intelligent and intuitive soul who can sense your emotions and knows exactly how to turn a frown into a smile just by being near you. Sadly, due to a sudden and heartbreaking change in family circumstances following the passing of his dad, Roman needs a wonderful new home where he can get the love and dedicated attention he deserves.
Quick Facts
* Breed: Giant Schnauzer
* Age: 4 years old
* Status: Neutered recently (this year)
* Training: Fully kennel trained, potty trained, and obedient. Knows sit, stay, time to eat, want some water, and (of course!) treat.
* Vocal Level: Very quiet! He rarely barks unless someone is directly at the door.
* Compatibility: Wonderful with children and other dogs. No cats or bunnies (he has a high prey drive for small animals, though he finds frogs fascinating!).
Roman's Personality & Quirks
* The Ultimate Companion: Roman is a total "Momma's boy" who has been accustomed to having someone home with him during the day. He thrives on one-on-one attention, loves going for car rides, and prefers to sleep in the bedroom with his person at night.
* Playful Energy: Despite his large Giant Schnauzer size, Roman is fantastic with kids and other pups. He loves playing with toys, enticing his dog siblings to play, and having you chase him around. He still gets the zoomies both indoors and out! One of his favorite morning rituals is playing a harmless game of "fence wars" running along the fence line with the neighbors' dogs.
* Cozy & Warm: Roman is a bit of a prince when it comes to comfort. He hates being cold. He absolutely loves his bed and blankets and will happily burrow into them to stay warm.
* Sensitivities: Roman is a sensitive, intelligent boy who is afraid of loud noises like fireworks and large trucks. He can also tell when you are getting ready to leave the house. He is not a fan of baths and will try to go hide when it's bath time, but he remains an absolute sweetheart through it all.
Diet, Health, & Eating Habits
* Finicky but Smart Eater: Roman has acid reflux and takes two tablets each day before eating.
* Stomach Awareness: He is incredibly aware of his own stomach tolerance. If his stomach feels unsettled, he will patiently wait to eat until it feels better. When trying a new snack or food, he will delicately smell it and nibble a tiny piece first to test it out.
* Favorite Treat: Watermelon!
Ideal Home Requirements
Because Roman is a special, large working breed, his perfect new home will have:
1. A Secure Backyard Fence: Roman requires a very stable, secure backyard fence to keep him safe during outdoor playtime.
2. Experience with Large Breeds: He can occasionally be a little stubborn if he really doesn't want to do something, so he responds best to gentle, confident, and patient guidance.
3. An Indoor Sleeping Space: He needs a family that will welcome him into the bedroom at night so he feels safe, secure, and close to his humans.
What Comes With Roman
To help him transition smoothly into his new home, Roman will bring his favorite familiar items:
* His loved kennel (used for traveling/transitioning, though he is trusted free in the house)
* His favorite dog beds
* The blankets he loves to keep warm in
